I know there are some Guns 'n Roses fans in here, and even some who've seen them live in their latest incarnation (Axl + a band. That ain't Guns n Roses in my book, but well...)

I hadn't really been following them that close, but I just stumbled across their latest performance in Rock in Rio and now I'm holding my face in my hands in utter despair :blankfriggingstare1 :forfucksake :Youmakeagrownmancrylikejoey

What in God's sakes has happened to Axl Rose? He's only 49 still, so it can't be age catching up with him.

Yeah, and I know it's unfare to compare a 29 year old version of a singer with his 49 year old one, but still. Still. What the hell is wrong with his voice???
I used to worship the ground he stepped on. They had such power and such talent in the nineties. This is so sad it hurts.

I just wanted to share my sadness with people who'd understand, and point out that hey, the Stones still got it good. Mighty good. THIS is what bad sounds like, unfortunately.

The Rolling Stones are the greatest rock and roll band. They wear the fucking crowns. Axl is a mess. That Chinese Polygamy album is one of the worst things I'ver ever heard.

Guns and Roses had a possibility of joining the all time greats. However, their run was rather short lived. They died before really getting to mature in music. Axl is far too self-centered and that ended the band. The rest of the members did not know what band, or exactly what they wanted to do.

Axl is not merely pushing the "over the hill" factor anymore. At this point he is somewhat an embarrassment. He really needs to quit or possibly do small club shows where he doesn't have to project his voice or move around at all. Then again, there is not much to hide behind (less effects and stage show, less added musicians, small crowd) so he may be super exposed rather than able to handle it...?

Really, what is the point? My guess is to bring some cash. At any rate, he's lost almost all mobility, his voice is weak, non-existent, or just plain bad, and he's clearly unfocused. He has trouble simply walking around up there and carrying a tune. Every song is a real effort for him to just try that much.

He's been toast. Sad, actually. (and I used to dig them back when).

Other than Mick Taylor and Toni Tennille when she axed the Captain, I can't think of anyone who blew their big time rock career more than Rose.

Izzy rocks!! Seen him a few times w/ his solo band...Slash and Duff Rock..seenthem with VR...they havn't lost a thing

Guns were at their best on their first album, but what a fantastic debut it was - one of the greatest. The rest is just filler.

The thing is, he didn't really prepared himself for this Rock in Rio show, which is preety dumb, considering it's an event watched around the world

Also there were technical problems due to the rain

I'm not trying to be a jerk but his voice can be "not too bad" sure , but that is only like 30% of the song. He sings off mic, out of breath, and he cannot hit any long notes. He has no power or punch left to his vocals either. I am just giving my take on it.

Rio DID suck. In their defense, I might add they issued a release apologizing for their set. Also, I will point out that it was their first show in nearly a year, it rained over five inches during the show, the stage had huge puddles everywhere, they started at 3 AM because System Of A Down started and played late....anyone can have a bum show under those circumstances. Please check out the stellar shows in Chile, Argentina, and Paraguay. There are plenty of youtube clips thereof. Axl's voice frequently takes a show or two to work out the kinks. Don't believe the Daily Mirror's spin on this!

btw, I've seen both the old and new incarnations of the band....the new one is FAR better!

Tommy and Richard have been in GnR longer than Slash ever was.
We see them in Hartford November 19th and in Worcester November 25th and probably out in Vegas in December.
