Title: Worst Stones shows ever, any era?

What would you say the worst Stones shows from any era--Jones era, Taylor era, Ronnie era, post-Bill era?

I really couldn't say. I have seen them 16 times since '89 and thought they were incredible each time.

Music wise, I would say Hyde Park '69, they didn't rehearse that much, as keith said they were rusty, but that didn't matter, it was so great to see them live again (I wasn't there by the way) after so many years of not playing, this I would say the only concert music wise that was sort of thrown together & not practiced, some songs like "Honky Tonk Woman" were alright,  I think Mick was stoned on heavy downers, the way he moves & waves at the crowd.

Why such a negative/subjective thread?

I am interested in your answers though...but more so for the reasons...was it sound... Setlist...weather conditions...the audience ...medicated musicians...???

Off the top of my head I would have to ALTAMONT...

This post causes me to consider your duty as a member of Rocks Off.
Is it possible you have have had an intervention by a non believer?
Are you a double agent from another board, such as Echo & The Bunnymen?
These words are from someone who has had an attempt on the
clear thinking psyche, to corrupt your thinking, which we as fervent fans
would never consider.

You may have time for redemption.
Please perform this exercise.
Clear the room, sit down, bottle of Jack Daniels at hand,
Every live lp played once in it's entirety, 10 out of 10 volume on your turntable.

I want you to then go look in the mirror, soldier.
Wipe that "I'm from the enemy" look off of your compromised mug.
Ask yourself-why would anyone ever utter such nonsense?
What has happened to me?
Why am I acting in such a wayward manner?
Do I have what it takes to remain a Rolling Stones fan?

If you still harbor such ill conceived thoughts, it's been nice knowing
you, sunshine.

If you feel cleansed, just remember the following:

From this point on, please refrain from such future posts.
It is embarrassing to the hard working members of this board to read
such contrived thoughts, to the ones who spread the gospel, who spend
their hard working lives proclaiming what we all know as fact.
That is why we are here.
To carry the torch of the World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band.
The Rolling Stones ARE The World's Greatest Rock & Roll Band ever.
Accept no substitutes!

Thank you for your support & cooperation.

During the Bridges To Babylon Tour the Stones did a bunch of gigs in the Amsterdam Arena. At the time the venue was quite new and the Stones were one of the first acts to do a gig there. The sound was awful and  I had the feeling the boys were a bit off balance because of that. They tried harder but it didn't work, mostly because of the venue. It got better over the years with the Arena, but those shows were a bit of a let down. But can you blame the Stones for that? They could've booked other venues but the poor sound quality of the Arena was quite unknown at the time.

They did however invite Dave Matthews to the stage to rape Memory Motel on a few of those nights.. :pukey Let's just say I'm not a fan of guest appearances.

The worst show I ever saw was the big stadium in Philly, a really large outdoor venue maybe JFK or RFK in the 70's. It was so fvcking hot that day and super crowded with stoned motherfvckers selling drugs everywhere and dirt cheap too. I bought a wonderbread bag full of weed but it was laced with angel dust or thc or some fvcking mind blowing shit. My group of friends smoked up a rediculous amount of that shit as soon as we got there, all of it in fact by the time we left. Also someone in my crowd passed around a wine sack which was laced with orange sunshine acid and purple mescaline, a combination of hallucinagenics. Since I love wine I gladly drank every time they passed it my way. I was so fvcking stoned and it was so fvcking hot that I could barely hear any music and my head was totally numb.  Plus our seats were so high up in the crowd I couldnt see the stage or know what songs were being played, the music wasnt loud enough. By the night time it got much better but that was the fvcking worst way to see a show. Since then I learned my lesson, I barely have a few tokes and a few drinks to get warmed up, never got so high as a kite as I did that day. Ah to be young and foolish. Stupid too.

I guess the only era I have had the pleasure to see concerts in was from Voodoo Lounge onwards and attended at least 1 show from the following world tours. I havent seen 1 bad show and they have always sounded great. Its a bit weird that Ive seen plenty of live dvd shows and some of them suck.
I would pay good money to have seen the stones in any era.....hot, cold, off my face, sitting at the back.......I honestly could not think how a Stones concert couldnt be a great experience and Stones fans are the greatest people on earth. :P
mmmm in saying that I was hit by a flying plastic beer bottle at Wembley in 99 and the people going to the bar to get drinks during the the last Bigger Bang shows in London annoyed the crap out of me >:(

"Rusty" is putting it kindly. Keith , in particular, is so of tune it almost hurts.

Imagine how much better that show would have been if they had had  tuners back in the day.

Very hard for a poor Aussie boy to comment as they didnt tour here in 69/70, 75/76, 78, 81/82, 89/90, or 97.

So going by vids only, i'm gonna say 89. For really crappy reasons.

Mick's short hair, the use of those horrible "plastic" looking guitars and 50 assistant musicans.

I rarely listen to shows from the '81 and '89 tours.  Just don't care much for the setlists and the vibes.  Most UNDER appreciated tour (won't be after the upcoming release) is the '78 tour.  Not a lot written about it, but some great shows.
