Title: Happy Birthday Canada/USA
Post by gimmekeef on Jul 1st, 2011 at 7:20am
Canada celebrates it's birthday today and USA on Monday the 4th.long weekends both sides of teh border with many parties and drinks galore....trying to put a setlist of patriotic tunes together to play at my fireworks party on the week end.......any ideas folks?

Startin off with Bruce.....Born in the USA is easy...will add Dead's US Blues...and then.....?????????

Well Born in the USA isn't actually a patriotic song. But most people can't tell the difference anyway. Jimi doing the Star Spangled Banner is always a classic....Are the people in Vancouver going to celebrate Canada Day by having another riot? :boring

It's always a riot in Vancouver..I know I lived there for 5 years!...and by patriotic I meant songs that even mention the USA .....thanks for the Jimi of course!

Young Americans - Bowie
American Girl - Petty
Saturday in the Park - Chicago
Every song by the Eagles
Heroin - Velvet Underground
America's Sweetheart - Courtney Love
Fight The Power - Public Enemy
American Pie - Donald "Biff" McLean
Redemption Song - Marley
American Dream - Lucinda Williams
Hello America - Def Leppard
Catch Me Now I'm Falling - Kinks ("....this is Captain America calling..."

Christopher Columbus found American while boating around looking for freedom.  He did not want to be ensconced with liberals anymore.  Now look at us.  A bunch of morally and economically bankrupt crybabies, huddled over a bowl of sugary tomato soup, filthy goddam socks, flabby, sniveling, and still haven't found Sasquatch - yep, we're The Big Fat.

Negroes have played a huge uncredited role in shaping America.  Other cultures/races have been overplayed, and are actually detrimental to The Great American Experiment.  See, e.g., Germanity.

Awful posting. Regrettable.

Think about how much better America would be without Utah.  Like if Utah was just shown the fucking door, man.  We could still have 50 states, like maybe divide California into two, or pick up Puerto Rico.  Or invade Baja, and annex it.  I'd be up for that war, claiming what is rightfully ours.  Manifest Destiny.  La Raza Cosmica.  Shades of Jose Lopez Portillo.  Shades of Rafael Caro Quintero.

I've been celebrating with blues music all weekend. Throw in some Chuck Berry and some Jimi Hendrix and it's a perfect weekend of music.
