First circulated (along with an hour or so of other never before heard SW outtakes) in August 2006 on THIS very site, Steelie!

:booze

Its a Jerry Butler song, actually - the Impressions had the first hit with it

SW out's or DW?

Found this on google...

The Paris Dirty Work sessions produced a number of unreleased tracks, including What Am I Supposed To Do, Baby You're Too Much, Deep Love, Sending Out An Invitation, Some Of Us Are On Our Knees, For Your Precious Love,  Strictly Memphis, What Are You Goin' To Do With My Love.

Google is wrong.

Its from a tape of Steel Wheels Monitor Mixes bequeathed by the widow of a Stones employee (Chuch Magee, we think) to a fan who gave them to us to upload here in August 2006.

A second collection of outtakes from the same sessions circulated a few months later. Similar track listing, but for the most part, earlier takes than the Monitor Mixes.

Well, it wasnt a 'boot' because it wasnt copied from a bootleg CD.

The title it was given when uploaded was 'Steel Wheels Monitor Mixes'.

Consisted mostly of alternate takes/mixes of almost all of the songs that appeared on the album (plus a longer version of 'Fancy Man Blues') plus a couple of songs that werent released at all....the cover of 'For Your Precious Love' and one called 'Ready Yourself'.  The version of 'Almost Hear You Sigh' on it features Keith on vocals, instead of Mick, although the lyrics are still pretty much a work in progress. The mixes on most tracks are superior to the ones that were used. Steel Wheels is an album which hasnt aged well, partly due to the way it was mixed. This mix is a lot 'harder' and has  a rawer sound.

Tom Carson wrote in the Village voice that Steel Wheels sounded like the Stones decided to cut out the middleman and record inside a bank vault.
