Kinks' Dave Davies Calls His Brother Ray 'Egocentric' And 'Vain' 4/2/2011 2:47 PM ET

(RTTNews) - Dave Davies has once again spoken out about his opposition to a Kinks reunion. During a recent interview with the U.K.'s Independent, Dave said that though he loves his brother Ray Davies dearly, the two have had more than a few personal problems.

"I don't know when it happened but at some point Ray kind of lost the ability to share," Davies explained. "Emotionally - not just with money. Even though that [money] would help. A lot."

He added: "But having said that Ray is a vain, egocentric, narcissistic arsehole, I won't have anybody call him that except me. Because I love him to death. He is my brother."

Ray Davies has remained active since the Kink's split in 1996 while Dave has been sidelined due largely to physical ailments. And though Ray has made several comments about the possibility of an upcoming reunion, Dave says that they recently talked business "but nothing got resolved."

It would be great to see the three original members get back together & do some of their 60's stuff, Something Else or material in that period, I was a big fan of them in the 60's, I didn't care for them so much in the mid 70's, One for the road is a good live album, but I prefer Live At Kelvin Hall, that's just me.

I would like to see a Kinks reunion, but their time has passed.

Slightly OT: until I read it recently, I had no idea that D. Davies was a bisexual and had a brief relationship with Long John Baldry.

Ewww,really. I did not know that either.

I knew, but not at the time, that Dave was bi---didn't know about the relationship, though.

I think all this became common knowledge only in the last few years...

The D. Davis/Long John Baldry relationship only came to light after the publication of D. Davis's autobiography.  :pukey

Ray and Dave are both doing very good solo work.

Dave's autobiography, "Kinked",  is a good read.

Ray's fictional autobiography, "Xray", is also a good read.

Agree on both counts though (Dave's is actually titled just "Kink").  In it, he dishes the dirt on himself about drugs and weird sex then goes off into the cosmos talking about "intelligences" from another planet.  Worst is how he dumped his wife after she gave him four children.  But that's rock and roll I guess.

Ray's is one of my favorite rock and roll books ever.  A "unauthorized autobiography"!  

I think a Kinks reunion at this point would have been a downer, so I'm not crying too many tears in my beer.

Yes, I believe Xray is not technically a biography, though its based on The Kinks early years.

I saw Ray live a couple of years ago and he was great!  Full of energy! If Dave had been there with him, it would have been even better.

But Dave is doing his own thing now, and seems quite content.  He suffered a stroke about seven years ago, recovered, and has become even more involved with mysticism and philosophy.

At least Ray and Dave are talking....
