Title: Greetings from L.A.
Post by corgi37 on Mar 20th, 2011 at 10:35pm
How u bastards going? Havent been on for awhile as i am holidaying in the U.S. with my family. I dont understand why so many people hate Yanks. You guys are so fucking friendly. Sure, your beer sux, you cannot hold your booze (and whats the big deal about St. Patricks day?), you dont know what a brandy and dry is, your meals are bloody huge, and tipping sux,  but we have had a great time. L.A. seems like its about to flood though. Rain has been unreal! We are off to San Louis Obistpo tomorrow, then San Fran for couple of days. Before this it was Anaheim and Vegas.

Nothing Stonesy to report, except the pool at Mandalay Bay always had Stones songs playing.

Looking forward to getting home though. Money is just flowing away (thanks to my wife going bezerk!), and cant wait for some Aussie red wine and VB beer.

My wife and i hope to return in 2-3 years.

USA! USA! USA!

USA is a lovely country to visit,as many here knows iīve been there twice now.I want to come back, canīt afford it now.Service is EXELLENT in nearly every restaurant,as for a man from Finland thats very strange experience.Food is LOT better there than here.I can cook better food what restaurants are offrering here. And you do get your
moneys worth, thats what we here should LEARN.
But between all the fun, theres a downside in america, worlds worst health care, then i think school system sucks a big time, why in earth you have pay 100k a year to get your children to an decent school? Here its ALL FREE.

But this also reminds me,here we donīt get paid!! while USA you do get paid very well what you do.Here an Engineering earns LESS than a man who works in papermill factory!
Or a buss driver in Helsinki earns more than a police.Lot more.
The average pay here for an hour,in industrial jobs is between 8-11 euros per/hour!!! usual rent is from 500-1000 euros,so do your count::))

But back to a point,America has one of the richiest cultures, lot of people from all over the world. And thats one of the reasons, why this country is hard to coordinate. So many
different people, and they all have their own minds.

Btw,has it ever been prooved that it was actually vikings who found America?

I've seen TV documentaries suggesting evidence that Vikings did arrive in America before the better known explorers, so I think Vikings were the first Europeans in America.

Asians migrating over the land-bridge that existed between Russia & Alaska were actually the first to "find" America.

Our economy was on the  border of tanking, yet now we have better leadership. Baby steps, we're pacing ourselves. Can we rebound, yes we will. Enjoy your visit.

In a matter of time,
There'll be a friend of mine
Gonna come to the coast,
You're gonna see him
Up close for a minute or two
While the ground cracks under you.

By the look in your eyes
You'd think that it was a surprise
But you seem to forget
Something somebody said
About the bubbles in the sea
And an ocean full of trees.

And you now, L.A.
Uptight,
city in the smog,
city in the smog.
Don't you wish that
you could be here too?
Don't you wish that
you could be here too?
Don't you wish that
you could be here too?

Well, it's hard to believe
So you get up to leave
And you laugh at the door
That you heard it all before
Oh it's so good to know
That it's all just a show for you.

But when the suppers are planned
And the freeways are crammed
And the mountains erupt
And the valley is sucked
Into cracks in the earth
Will I finally be heard by you.

L.A.
Uptight,
city in the smog,
city in the smog.
Don't you wish that
you could be here too?
Don't you wish that
you could be here too?
Don't you wish that
you could be here too?

When I was at the drag races in Englishtown, New Jersey, there was an attendant outside the port-o-let who expected a tip for handing you toilet paper.  :forfucksake

Just got  back. Time means nothing anymore. I missed out on Friday all together!  Great holiday, but the weather the past week was atrocious in L.A. & San Fran (NOTE: i didnt call it Frisco!). I drove from L.A. to San Louis Obistpo and stayed at the Madonna Inn. Fabulous place, and cool little town. Very cheap booze! But, dont have to go there again. We stayed at The Handlery in S.F. Nice enough, except for the beggars. 1st night we had the fire alarm go off at 4am. I was so tired, i was prepared to fry, but it was a false alarm. S.F. was great. Loved it! Reminds me alot of Melbourne. Even the soggy weather. Went to Alactraz (it didnt rain!), and toured around. The only place i really got drunk on this trip (apart from getting close in Vegas) was at Lefty O'Douls or something, next to our hotel. Very nice Guinness! I paid the piano player $5.00 to play Honky Tonk Women. Topped it off with some cheap red wine i bought at a liquor store and consumed (and spilt) in the room.

Americans are fantastic. No doubt. Everyone was super friendly, despite not understanding alot of what i was saying. The accent gets in the way, but it was fun. I stand by remarks about the beer, though it is cheap, so i cant complain. Just didnt drink alot of it, except at the pool at Mandaly Bay. I had some Colt .45's in L.A. that i enjoyed. We stayed at the Magic Castle and all i can say is we WILL be back. Thinking in 2-3 years or so.

Driving was a blast, but i ditched the car early in S.F. as i didnt want to drive in the rain and with the wet tram tracks. Rain & cold really ruined the end. By then, i'd had enough holiday. Especially since my wife was going a bit crazy at Macy's and the kids wanted to eat 3 times a day. As in, eat all morning, all afternoon and all frigging night! BTW, i love Churro's! When we return i reckon i will splurge and do the Hawaii thing on the way back. The return flight was a bastard! Too long. Packed too, so couldnt spread out.

I dont need to ever see Disneyland again, so when we return might go San Diego, Vegas, L.A., S.F. and Hawaii to break up the flight. If i have the cash and time, i would love to see some where else like Chicago. Or maybe down south somewhere.

I've always loved Yanks, and i always will. Super nice and polite and it seemed every man and his dog watched Oprah in Australia! lol. I even had the honour of being x-rayed at LAX!!!

Good chance i'll go again in 2-3 years. Our dollar just gets higher and higher. Might be a good time to store them greenbacks.

Love to see the mid-west, but dont know if the mid-west is ready for us.

I bought a sweet guitar pedal at Guitar Center (we spell it centre btw) in S.F. but i fried the power supply. Digitech Rp255. I cried when i got home. I can get a replacement though!

1 thing the wife and i agree on is we will save a little bit harder and come home via Hawaii. A couple of nights there will break up the flight nicely. The kids turn 12 in just over 3 years, so i gotta go back before then.

But... If the Stones happen to tour next year, i cant see why i alone cant go over for a quick little holiday and concert attendance! I'd go to Vegas i reckon for that.
