Title: More Nicky Hopkins solo stuff!
Post by Voodoo Chile In Wonderland on Mar 9th, 2011 at 7:22pm
Finally I got the only official release credited to Nicky Hopkins as a solo artist missing in my collection of Nicky Hopkins music

This is a single 7" - 45 RPM released in 1968, below are the pictures and the mp3 of the tracks, I also updated this in our Nicky Hopkins website here at Rocks Off

Enjoy

Single 3: Top Pops No. 1 (PROMO) 7th June 1968, produced by Eddie Tre-Vett (Great Britain MGM 1419)

Finally!! I got this one!! (the most "hard-to.-find" Nicky Hopkins official recording)

Side A: Medley (3:02) with
(a) Cinderella Rockefella (Mason Williams/Nancy Ames),
(b) Lady Madonna (John Lennon/Paul McCartney) and
(c) Congratulations (Bill Martin/Phil Coulter)

Side B: Medley (3:17) with
(a) Captain of my Ship (Everson Allen / Mark McKee / Kenny Young / Ben Yardley)
(b) What a Wonderful World (Bob Thiele (as George Douglas) and George David Weiss) and
(c) Sleepy Joe (John Carter & Russell Alquist, by mistake written "Alquest" on the label)

ALL SONGS NEVER RELEASED ON LP OR COMPILATIONS!!

Lucky guy you are for getting that. The man was a legend. There has never been a more melodic player in rock and roll and there never will be. He was one of a kind.

Thanks!

I think this is a good example about how "producers" used to spoil the creativity of musicians, Nicky's first album and singles are good examples, as many others from this era. Imagine Jimmy Miller producing instead
