Looks like i'm the first to have caught this...a bit of a shock, but Keith had it coming didn't he, what with his cheap comments in his autobiography and lack of musical creativity since...VL pretty much...Dave Stewart doesn't strike me as the best possible musical partner, but I suppose Mick feels comfortable with him. The Alfie soundtrack wasn't too bad and Mick stole the "Oh No Not You Again" title from one of his old songs...and LINDied was supposedly worked on during the Alfie sessions.

Yeah, but most people in their 60s aren't still friends with the same people that they hung around with when they were ten!

He worked with Stewart a while back - could be it's the same thing. May not necessarily be a solo album either. The info is pretty vague.

I also don't think he should automatically be expected to work with the Stones. It could be that the music he's written and has ready to record isn't suited for the Stones (you can imagine the multitude of complaints if the next Stones album was full of rubbish like 'Streets of Love' or 'Charmed Life'). There's also the issue that Keith may not be ready to work on a Stones record yet plus the added possible elephant in the room that their relationship at the minute may not make it a good idea for them to work together for a while yet.

It's no big deal. A Stones tour isn't just around the corner. He did a few songs for 'Alfie' with Stewart in 2004 and then made a Stones record soon after which he finished in time for a tour a year later.  Considering he's released nothing new for almost six years now, it's quite possible that he has a backlog of songs for both solo and Stones projects that he feels the need to finish off.

Good.....Time to crank up the Winos!....Maybe Mick played some ideas to Keith back at that late year meeting and they decided it wasn't Stonesy?....Then Mick asked Keith for his ideas and got a blank stare!

The Grammys was 10 days ago. I doubt Mick suddenly decided to make a solo record on the strength of that.

There was no agreement when they met in December to do a new Stones record and tour in 2011. I'd imagine that by that stage he had already made plans to do some solo work.

Sounds like his Grammys appearance was convenient for him because he was already going to be in LA anyway around that time working with Stewart.

This is unacceptable.

Interesting to read that Mick was in touch with ?uestlove of The Roots while in NYC for Fashion Week.
Wonder if the reported work with Dave Stewart is a new Mick thing or related to Stewart's Super Heavy project from a coupla years back.

As for Keith, he worked with Ben Waters in NYC last fall on 'Boogie 4 Stu'.
Maybe he'll be one of the "very special guests" at next week's London shows...

I agree, "Blue" is great, but I've never heard or read something on this board about "Hide Away". Maybe the best Jagger solo of all times imho!

Stones won't even begin to record for at least a year at best... can't blame Jagger at all for wanting to be creative. I hope he is succesful.

I think Keith is a spent creative force, the last time he had any energy for new music was...18 years ago when they wrote VL. Actually he was still OK in 1996/1997 judging by the numerous (unavailable) unreleased tracks he got credit for (Karnbach book), since then he's been all but dried up oddly enough.

Seriously ... it won't sell well. I know he's an artist and a song writer and thats what he does but still ... why can't he work with The Stones?

It isn't like it was even fifteen years ago when there was not nearly as much concern about time constraints. I mean, they are basically seventy years old here. They aren't 50 or even 53 or 54 when a year or two won't make much difference at all. They are right at 70! A health issue could deter them from any plans at all at any given time. I see where your coming from and many probably feel this way. I dunno. Hmmmm ...I don't think the Grammy's had much to do with things. Micks an entertainer who's been at the top of his game exciting crowds for into six decades. He knows he can show out and swoon an audience at basically any time and that's all it was. I am not seeing him gathering folks up (non the less this fast) to do a solo album just because he performed and did well at the Grammys.  He was there to honor Burke and he looked good and that was it. He did it. Can't see Mick being riveted by it to the point he wants to now make a solo effort suddenly and bypass all Stones work based on that much. Mick's Mick. He needs no wake up call and I can't see him thinkin that way...
