Title: Stones Art for Sale...
Post by jenrem on Feb 18th, 2011 at 5:02pm
First, I am new to this board.  So…hello.  Next, I am a huge fan and grew up loving the Stones.  My Daddy showed me how awesome they were from a very young age, and it pains me to continue this post…but…

I have a huge Rolling Stones piece of art by Tim Yanke which I am selling.  It's acrylic on Canvas, and has the Tongue and Lip design logo with the Honkey Tonk Woman lyrics in an abstract design.  It's absolutely stunning, and my words don't do it justice (nor do pictures, really).  I hate to sell it, but I must sell some of my collection.  The 40X40 symbolizes the 40 year anniversary of the band, which it was when I purchased it several years ago.  Here is part of the information I received from the gallery where I purchased it:

“Honky Tonk Woman” was created by Tim Yanke in 2008 as a 40th anniversary tribute to The Rolling Stones, Brian Jones, and the Beggars Banquet album.  In 1968, Beggars Banquet was released, and it is credited as the album where Brian Jones’s last full contribution was made.  As Jones was one of the five original founding members of band, Beggars Banquet was considered by many as the last true and purist Rolling Stones album.  As part of the tribute, Yanke created the piece on a 40”x40” canvas.  With frame, it measures 46.5”x46.5”.

If you're interested or would like to see a picture (my file was too large to attach to this post and I am apparently a moron and can't figure it out)please email me at [email protected].  I paid $6k for it several years ago - but am willing to take a little less as it must go.  I would love for a true fan to get it, which is why I am posting this here and not on eBay or Craigslist, etc. Thank you!
Jen

Oops, I figured out how to make the picture small.  [smiley=lolk.gif]

It really does not do it justice, but at least it gives you an idea of what it looks like.  My camera tends to overexpose, and the colors look deeper in person.

Most of the fans on this board are saving for the much-rumored 50th anniversary tour. I doubt you'll get any takers for a $6,000 painting of the tongue logo.

Thanks for the feedback.  Heck, even if I don't have any takers...tell me if you love it, hate it, etc.   [smiley=beer.gif]

I like it!

I think the price is right if we consider is an original by Timothy Yanke

Welcome to the board.  The one issue I have is that this is a tribute to Brian Jones....well, he died a few years BEFORE the famous Stones logo was created.

But I'm a tough one to please.

Well, that was written by the gallery, another big mistake is the 40th anniversary of the Stones, in 2008 they, as a band, were 46 years old

You guys know best - I am a Stones fan, but I certainly don't know as much as you all do with regards to the history of the band.  I know what I love to hear, and I know what I love to look at.  I know that when I was a kid I would lay on the living room floor while my dad listened to the Stones and did his best Mick Jagger impression.  He passed away in 2004, and every time I hear the Stones, I laugh to myself when I think of it.

Anyway, Tim is a really cool guy - so down to earth and talented...so I am going to chalk it up to the gallery being full of idiots.  Somewhere I have a pic of Tim, my husband and I sharing a beer together.  When you spend $6k on a painting, the artist SHOULD buy you a beer, right?

If all else fails, the painting will stay in my rec room and you all can tell me how cool it is via this post.  It's about beer o'clock...catch you all later and have a great weekend!   [smiley=cool.gif]

PS I never use message boards, so if I commit some sort of message board snafu, please forgive me!
