Title: RIP Gary Moore
Post by sweetcharmedlife on Feb 6th, 2011 at 11:22am
Legendary guitarist Gary Moore has died. According to reports, the 58-year-old Belfast-born musician was on holidays in Spain when he passed away in his sleep. He’s best known for the time he spent in Thin Lizzy and for his solo career, during which he wrote several classic rock songs, including ‘Parisienne Walkways’ and ‘Out In The Fields’, which he recorded with former Thin Lizzy bandmate Phil Lynott. He was also a member of BBM, where he played alongside ex-Cream members Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce, as well playing in Colosseum II with Don Airey and Jon Hiseman, and appearing live alongside B.B. King on several occassions.

Very sad news - he was from a couple of miles up the road from me.

Played with Jagger at the 'Celebration of the Blues' gig on National Music Day at Hammersmith in June 1992.

News still hasnt even made it to the local news programmes or websites yet...its really just filtering through now.

Shit! I just changed the header and found this thread

I saw Gary Moore live at the Palladium in NYC back in 1982 with Greg Lake, what a great player, he played Keith Emerson's parts on the guitar and it was really GREAT

Also a great blues player, I have the DVD "An Evening of the Blues" with Gary Moore and the Midnight Blues Band with guests Albert King and Albert Collins a fantastic show

Thats all I've ever seen of it. I remember seeing that clip (and taping it) from MTV the day after the show took place.

A friend of mine recorded the audio of all the Stones-related performances from that gig, which has been subsequently widely bootlegged.

Well if it's your time to go, dying in your sleep has to be the best way out! RIP.
