I'll take a simple small venue tour. They can start by playing in my living room.

U2 has NOT done a 3D tour/show...the current show is 360 degress, but still 2D. The screens are actually panals that can compress to a single screen or expand into about 200 panals for light effects and such...it was quite impressive to see and really has changed the stadium concert concept for the better!!! |

I think an idea such as this could excite MICK! A new gimmick is a tour necessity! Remember the "On Stage Seating" they came up with for ABB? That idea got canned after a drunken brawl within the "on stage" seating and another incident with a crazy mama upchucking on the stage. There were multiple seating problems with that idea as well, and security issues, so I think next time they may opt for something simpler. 3D or another new technology just might be interesting enough to entice MICK!

How about this for a left-of-field, off the wall 'gimmick' for the next tour ?
Concentrate on the fucking music. Nothing else This other bollocks has been done to death. Theyve proved they do all that better than anyone else. So, its time to move on and has been for some time. Now, since they're known as the 'greatest rock n roll band in the world' after all, how about proving (or at least trying to) that they can do THAT better than anyone else as well. Ideally, while there are still enough people around who can remember them for music as opposed to pyrotechnics. Leave the cartoon stuff to bands who need to have gimmicks to pad their shows out to disguise the fact that they dont have the songs. I deliberately passed on U2 this tour for two reasons - their new album was shit and the reports about their stage show just screamed "self indulgent wankery". Almost everyone I knew who went to see them came back raving about how spectacular it was. Hardly anyone commented on the music, which convinced me I'd made the right decision. I sure as hell don't want the same scenario for the Stones. |

Is that right about the reason it was canned? I've never heard that before. I just assumed it was because it was so poorly organised that the demand was poor. It was far from the most expensive ticket on the US leg, but when they brought it in for the first Euro tour in 2006 they only put the tickets on sale a couple of weeks before the gig (after everyone who wanted tickets had already bought them!), priced them WAY higher than the most expensive seats and as a result they couldnt give the damn things away. The gimmick was dropped for the 2007 leg. Plus, the whole thing was (until then) a scam that PT Barnum would have been proud of - ie, call the gimmick 'onstage seating' when in reality it was 'above stage standing' and the ticket buyer couldnt even see the whole band for a couple of songs. They had a similar venture on the No Security tour when they had seats behind the stage. Back then, they admitted they were the worst seats in the house and priced them accordingly ($40). 'Onstage seating' was proof that if you rebrand 'shit' as 'chocolate', people will queue up to buy it! |

I think unfortunately that boat has sailed. More likely to see a tour "An Even Bigger Bang" than the stripped down bone racking rocker we'd all prefer. Actually the more i dwell on the tour possibilities the more I think they won't. Time waits for no one. |

Yeah, disorderly drunken females in short dresses and high heels were screaming really loud during the show being obnoxious, then one of them threw up on the stage. MICK wasnt happy about that! The same night some guys were arguing about not sitting in the correct seats, or not being able to see from their seats and no venue security was around to sort it out. They got loud, a fight broke out in the 'on stage' cage during the show, cops showed up, were escorted out, someone went to the hospital, someone got arrested and thats why it was in the news. It was the first leg of the tour, Giants Stadium. After that they beefed up security for the remaining shows, then eventually they dropped the on-stage nonsense. I have to admit I wanted one of those seats, just couldnt get one!

So long RnR, indeed...but I am rather impressed with some of these figures... If you combine the 3 Cirque du Soleils...they would be number 4...a testament to modern culture... These were touring shows...not single venue shows like LOVE Depeche Mode...at no. 41...grossing 1.6 million per night...in 2010!!! Good for them!!! Only 10 acts with AVERAGE tkt prices over $100.00...thought it would be more...acts that is Simply Red at 49...WTF?!? If I were a betting man...I would be homeless and hungry tonite... Leonard Cohen at the 39 spot...glad he has the audience still. and lastly...LADY GAGA...earning the number 4 spot by working the hardest... more shows than any other non-circus / non-robotic / non- troupe / non-residency act on the list... and keeping her average price below $90.00 |

I wouldnt have minded experiencing the show from that vantage point once to see/hear what it was like for a bit of novelty. Would have been something different and probably OK for the likes of me or you who go to a lot of Stones shows. Don't think I'd have cared for it had it been my ONLY show, though. |

Could the Stones wear some sort of 3D suit?
Then their faces won't show, just their clothes... Don't see how they could tour in 3D. It's actually the songs that matter. Just play the fucking track... |

I'm with Gaaza, if we as fans are focusing on the gimmicks and fluff, we are not really satisfied fans... they need to have a nice stage and what not, but they need to focus on playing, not the props.

Go small stage big sound system and 5 guys up there. Bring back Mick Taylor, move Ronnie Wood to bass, tour, record an album, tour, go out (or continue) on top.

Title: Re: Stones Tour 2012 in 3D? Post by gimmekeef on Dec 30th, 2010 at 8:18am
using 3D would save a walk out to the B Stage...but I can't imagine having Chuck and Blondie right in my face. Yes go with Taylor if possible and play small clubs with HD broadcasts as pay per view?....(grasping at straws I know)

Will the Rolling Stones Tour?
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/photos/music-preview-10-big-questions-for-2011-20110105/year-of-spotify-subscription-0362622 The success of the concert business in 2011 may depend on the whims of Mick Jagger. Keith Richards and Ron Wood have been very clear that they are interesting in hitting the road this year and Charlie Watts will always go along for the ride, but Jagger seems to be non-committal. Word is that Jagger is still fuming over Keith's memoir, Life, particularly this part: "'[Anita] had no fun with the tiny todger,' Richards wrote, referring to Jagger's penis. 'I know [Mick's] got an enormous pair of balls, but it doesn't quite fill the gap.'" Revealing that tidbit of information probably wasn't the best way to convince Mick to rev up the Stones machine again. The band haven't played since August 2007, and at this point it's impossible to say whether they ever will again. In the end Jagger will probably have a hard time passing up the huge payday, but the safe bet might be on a 50th anniversary tour in 2012. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/photos/music-preview-10-big-questions-for-2011-20110105/will-stones-tour-0788932 |
