My dad killed our cat, too. He got a friend to stuff him in a box and then shot the box with a shotgun. I was told he ran away and didn't find out the truth until years later. RIP Charlie.

Despite my clowning around on this board, I'm a real animal lover and am disgusted by people who can be so cruel.

My last pet was a Birman cat that a former girlfriend pulled off the street.
Birmans are a show breed, but his markings weren't perfect enough to show.
They are also very stocky cats, and he was skin & bones when rescued and ate like a pig until he filled out, so I named him "Fats."
Birmans have incredible personalities, and Fats made friends with everyone he met, two-legged & four-legged.
Fats stayed with me for 17 years until he passed away in my lap.

I'm a animal lover too, before a certain era, Cats & dogs never got spaded or Neutered, so the population was insane, I remember in the 60's, Cats & dogs used to get drowned in a sack bag when they were born, to control the over population, I don't agree with this shooting or anything like that, except when a pit bull is out of control.

It's not really as cruel as it seems. The cat was old and sick and we didn't have a vet in our city to put it down. It would have been a 40 minute drive to the nearest one. And it was a quick and painless death. I've heard of people drowning cats.... that would have been fucked up.

Keef's Mum was a UK '50s Mum so was mine.  We were brought up to exrterminate vermin like cats, rats, wasp nests, mice and grey squirrels.  I was lucky enough as a kid to have an old WW2 flame thrower.  No cat ever crapped in our garden more than once!!  Keep the pics coming lads!

Of all the tales Keith weaves, this was the most disturbing to me. She did what?

But truth be told, I grew with Mexican-American parents who had grown up on ranches in rural Texas and dogs, cats, were just part of the scenery. It was unheard of, when I was a kid, to domesticate a dog or cat. We would have dogs, but there were free to roam and would often get picked up by the city Gestapo, the Dog Catcher, remember that. I always envied the dogs on TV: Tramp on My Three Sons, the Brady's had Tiger etc....it was a foreign concept to me as a kid. But now, I have a daschund mix named Ella and she is the love of my life - sleeps right next to me, wags her tail like Shakira when I walk in the door etc....I am now one of those people who talk incessantly about their pet.
I feel bad for all those dogs I had when I was a kid who we never provided a proper home to.....
But still, the Doris Killed Keith's Cat story is disturbing.... to me!
