Title: Brian header
Post by Zack on Nov 18th, 2010 at 9:05am
Is he really working that day or just fucking about? He doesn't seem to have a pick in hand or be fingering a chord.
Who's he looking at?
I can't believe they stubbed their cigs on the studio floor. What studio?
Seems pretty confident w/o the usual angst-ridden look. Was he happy that day?
Healthy too.
I guess since Dylan wore shades inside . . .
Strange outfit considering a blazer on the chair when he's wearing a t-shirt and tennis shoes.
Hair is pretty long, what album session?  What year?

Oh, what the hell:

Speculate:  did he have a good day in the studio that day or was he a liability?  What track were they working on?

Allez . . .

Yeah, I love this pic. Judging by the hair and pants, I would say '65. And yeah, Brian was a big part of the band, doing a lotta cool stuff in the studio, that year.  :smilebrian

He's wearing the same clothes as in this pic, (in this link)  May 1965, RCA Studio's Hollywood.

Looks pretty damn cool though, you've got to admit.
Reminds me of a Keith photo from a later period. I wonder how much Keith really modeled his image on Brian? Or was that just the influence of Anita? Or am I talking shit?
So, a, b or c? ;)  :smilebrian

If the photo is May, 1965 then it is before Anita came into the picture....Brian had his own sense of style that was copied by a lot of people.... :smilebrian

A little research in response to my own question indicates that the shot was taken among three days in the studio in LA in May 65 with Dave Hassinger and Jack Nitzsche, so there's no doubt they were really working.  (The cig butts kind of give that away too.)

Indeed, they could have been cutting the master of Satisfaction that day -- it was one of them.   Other songs they did in those sessions included Cry to Me, Loving You Too Long, My Girl, One More Try, and the Spider and the Fly.  No doubt their working with Hassinger and Nitzsche provided a great education about record making.

According to Nico, they had been in LA about a week doing various shows and TV as well.  After the last studio session was the famous Shindig episode with Howlin' Wolf contained in 25x5.

In Today's header, Brian looks like he's got a dyed Black mustache, never seen it before, is this one of those photo shop jobs?

I've been wondering that too, just been afraid to ask.

It doesn't look right on him.  :wtf3
