The book confirms 'that he repeatedly cheated on her during their 23-year relationship' ?
Fuck, who'd have known that? The notion that Mick was taking heroin in 1977 is a bit of a revelation, though. |

So, from what I've gathered, the big, huge, mega bombshells from Jerry Halls explosive autobiography are that Miacl Jagger had sex with alot of women! (who'd of known?) AND The Rolling Stones took drugs! (wow, that's some shocking stuff!) FOR FUCK SAKE! What's the point Jerry? Seriously, she shoulda done this book just after the divorce ( if they were even fucking married) and then people mighta given a shit! |

In fairness, thats the way the Daily Mail choose to abridge it in their serialization. That doesnt necessarily mean the whole book's like that.

Jaggs might have dabbled in heroin, but it's pretty obvious he didnt shoot up. His arms are always on show onstage & there aint no tracks. I doubt Mick ever touched the big H after Keith's bust.

Mick took LSD for a year in the 60's? I have trouble believing that, he never came across as a acid head ever, being a sex addict yeah, but the drugs no, he might have dabbled in Heroin, but he's always came across as a guy who likes fast drugs, Cocaine, but never a addict.

I though she had so valiantly refused to write about Jagger. This seems pretty exhaustive and self-serving to me.
What's funny is that, and she did this in her first "memoir" - she writes about her first days with Jagger the way all these women have. Her telling of their courtship is identical to that of Janice Dickinson, Bebe Buell and to the account by Angelina Jolie's biographer. They all, at some point, believed Jagger. It seems Jerry was the only naive enough to think she was the only one. |

Title: Re: JERRY HALL'S BOOK Post by SoulPlunderer on Sep 27th, 2010 at 3:34pm
She's clearly realised that there isn't much more that she can milk out of being with Mick. She may as well release this shit now and get the publicity while she can cause anyone who truely wants to know about the Stones is gonna forget this shit in a few weeks when Keith's book is out.
Alot of things that she says are contradictoray, like claims she once made that Mick got Keith off drugs and now shes saying that Mick was on heroin all along and it was her that got him off the drugs. She says that she never employed a nanny and that Mick never payed any bills. If she never employed a nanny, she musn't have been working cause she was lokking after the kids. So where the fuck was the money coming from if she didn't work and Mick wouldn't pay? I wonder if she is naive enough to believe all this shite? Cause if she is, maybe Micks marriage to her was a marriage of convenience cause she was easily manipulated and lied to so he could sleep around. Cause she wouldn't pf let that go on if she was really a media manipulator as this suggests. Unless ofcourse she wanted to cling on in the hope of gaining both publicity and a mega divorce settlement, and Mick had pulled the wool over her eyes with the whole wedding validity claims. Did Mick just out-manipulate her? Well I got carried away there and I certainly analysed the shit outta that! :wtf2 |

Well, I don't know how old you are Plundered, but I've been cringing at Ms Hall's comments since 1979, when I was 13! I had just gotten into the Stones and I remember thinking: 'Wow, I think I'm smarter than Mick Jagger's girlfriend'. She's always come across as extremely gullible, which can be charming. Unfortunately, she has always come across as extremely self-centered, as if Jagger's life didn't begin until her. It has always irritated the shyte out of me. I'm too old to give a shyte anymore, and yet, as a Stones fans, it still bugs me..... Ehh, let her have her notoriety. I'll pass on the book though. |

Title: Re: JERRY HALL'S BOOK Post by SoulPlunderer on Sep 27th, 2010 at 4:07pm
Textile, I am but 17 so I haven't really been into the Stones for much more than 3 years. I always thought her naivity was put on as part of her "Texan Gal Charm" act. She does seem kinda arrogant though, claiming Miss You was written for her and so on. Maybe she is naive and Mick just told her that to keep her in his bed!
I shall also be giving her book a pass, as will most Stones fans I suspect, because we all know that the only Stones book upcoming that may he of any real interest is Keiths, which I can't wait for. Rocks Off will be going so highbrow as her book and Keiths book come out and we shall all be discussing "literature!" |

Maybe she is naive and Mick just told her that to keep her in his bed! quote] Yeah, I kind of thought that when I was 13. And according to Bill, Mick and Billy Preston, the song was actually written during the Mocambo rehearsals, when he was separated from Bianca. But hey, who are we to question Jerry Hall. She's always gotten on my nerves and the whole Texas charm thing really annoyed me because I'm from Texas! But we're not all that clueless. |
|
Title: Re: JERRY HALL'S BOOK Post by SoulPlunderer on Sep 27th, 2010 at 5:01pm
Yeah, you can really tell that she's playing up to the cliche but it must be even more irritating if you are Texan!
If Miss You was about anyone in particular, it is most likely Bianca. Quite alot of Stones fans don't seem to like her but at least she retained a bit of dignity and didn't run to the press with all the dirty detail of her marrige with Mick. At least not that I know off.... Also, I wonder what the biography of Carla Bruni that's caused so much controversy in France has to say about Mick. A thing I read in the Times a few weeks back seems to suggest that she had Mick wrapped around her finger but I'm not buying it. |
|
Title: Re: JERRY HALL'S BOOK Post by texile on Sep 27th, 2010 at 5:27pm
I always suspected Bianca was a victim of a particular media creation: the gold-digging rock-star wife It always seems to happen to the more intelligent ones, ie. Yoko, Linda MAC etc....
In many ways, Bianca remains a mystery except for her politics. And because she seemed so removed from the rock and roll life, it was easy dismiss her as a "snob". I always thought of her as someone who just didn't "fit in" with that world and got crucified by the press who loved to paint Jerry Hall as such a sweetheart. But I guessed then as I do now, that there was much more to her than the myth. She has never said one negative thing about the Stones, and she rarely, if at all, mentions Mick. As for "using his name", she could be doing much worse things with it, like writing a book. Carla Bruni - well, at least she's kept her mouth shut. |
|
Title: Re: JERRY HALL'S BOOK Post by SoulPlunderer on Sep 27th, 2010 at 5:53pm
Carla Bruni's "fame" consists of a list of men she's shagged! She has kept her mouth shut but this biography is from some investigative journo and has been condemned as damaging. Besides Carla is in a comfortable position at the minute so she has nothing to gain by doing a Janice Dickenson and giving us a description of Mick's penis.
And as for Bianca, I have much respect for her, more than I have for Hall. She gets made out to be a sweethart but she was cheating on Brian Ferry with Mick WHILE he was still married, so she's hardly some innocent. The media seem to have taken a shine to her. It seems to be a trend that when a mega star marries the press seem to convey a petty jealousy. Lennon and McCartney were two of the top stars in the world when they married hence the press bitterness towards Yoko and Linda. Similarly, when Mick married Bianca he was the biggest rock star on the planet and centrepiece of the biggest band in the world, so Bianca got alot of press resentment. But she kept out of the spotlight and unlike Micks other women, she hasent used his name to feed some publicity craving. She has put the famous Jagger name to good use with her charity work but I can't help feeling that their marriage was superficial. It was often commented that they looked alike and suggested that this was a sign of ego on both their parts but I actually think Bianca looked pretty well back in the day. Of all the Stones women, the ones who could put forward the most interesting books would be her and Anita cause they were there when the Stones were a real phenominon and lived through all the excess and ofcourse the best music. They however have kept a dignified silence that is sadly lacking in some others. Maybe that's why Bianca and to a lesser extent Anita get slated in the press, cause they didn't offer up any scandal on their respective lovers... |
|
Title: Re: JERRY HALL'S BOOK Post by texile on Sep 27th, 2010 at 6:59pm
Yes, Bianca and Anita could write the best books, but are the least likely to go that route, to their credit.
I tend to think Jagger's relationship with Bianca might have been more what the press portrayed. The music hints at that, but Robert Greenfield once wrote that "it seems likely that Jagger kept the relationship private because he was genuinely in love, with a genuine, flesh and blood woman." I remember that quote verbatim from his book because I had always suspected as such. Descretion sometimes speaks volumes. As Carla Bruni, who knows? We know very little other than the notoriety.... |

Title: Re: JERRY HALL'S BOOK Post by AngieBlue on Sep 28th, 2010 at 1:09pm
Agreed Textile, Anita and Bianca could write a good book about the Stones. The best book would probably be from Shirley though. She's been there from the beginning and has seen it all. Although she isn't likely to write one either. Patti could write a good one too. I doubt she ever will.

Does anyone know what happened to Chrissie Shrimpton? Just curious. For being so strongly associated with Jagger, she kind of disappeared from the spotlight.

Allegedly, Mick wrote a few notable songs with her in mind, such as Yesterdays Papers and 19th Nervous Breakdown. Nt sure how true this all is though. She seems to be known mostly for being with Mick. This is all tht Wikipedia has:
Chrissie Shrimpton (born 1945) is a former 1960s English model and actress. She is the younger sister of model Jean Shrimpton and was the girlfriend of Mick Jagger from 1963 to 1966. Films G.G. Passion (1966) as G.G.'s main girlfriend All the Right Noises (1969) as Waitress Moon Zero Two (1969) as Boutique Attendant My Lover My Son (1970) as Kenworthy's Friend Universal Soldier (1971) All the Right Noises (1971) |

Nice to see a young Stones fans with such passion and curiosity, Ihonestly thought that died with my generation of fans. Yes, its true, many of those great early songs are probably about or in reference to Chrissie Shrimpton. I don't think CHrissy gets enought credit for those great songs. I wonder what its like for her to watch Jagger now. |

Title: Re: JERRY HALL'S BOOK Post by SoulPlunderer on Sep 28th, 2010 at 3:10pm
She's probably rueing the fact that she isn't well known enough to get a book deal. The sixties stuff is what seems to interest most casual Stones listeners cause that's all they play on the radio here so it could sell decently if it was marketed as mainly about Mick/the Stones and general sixties lifestyle.
And as for the enthusiasm, nice to hear you say it but it was just a copy and paste job on an iPod touch whole lying on a sofa watching the Arsenal game. No effort at all. How times have changed! I used to have to get up and go to the computer to et the Internet, like a caveman! :smilemick |

While it's great having all these resources to find out about the Stones, I can't help thinking about how great it would have been to have lived through the most exciting parts of the bands career and getting the best albums and songs when they were new. I'm sure listening to the brand new Stones record when it came out would be very exciting. Also, I would loved to see them at their live peak. But you can't have it all.
The only thing with being a younger fan is that alot of my peer group won't give the Stones the time of day and find my "obsession" with them weird as they all go and worship boring nrappers and listen to shite music from nowadays. |

I'm still at the stage where the Stones is pretty much the only band/artist I listen to! It's been that was for bout 3 years now. October looks like a good month to be a fan with Keiths book and Ladies and Gentlemen getting an official release. Those are two things that people never thought would happen a few years back!
