Title: My City Was Gone
Post by sweetcharmedlife on Sep 12th, 2010 at 1:43am
Ok,this may be a bit of a delayed reaction. But I don't know how many of you heard about the terrible gas line explosion in San Bruno Ca on thursday night that killed at least 4 people and destroyed at least 37 homes. Yeah stuff happens all over the world. But this one hit a little close to home. Literally. I live in San Bruno and just figured out tonight I was no more than about a mile and a half from the affected neighbourhood. Knew I was close, didn't know I was that close. But,other than my power going out for a while and putting up with way more excitement than I need.I'm fine. Didn't really hit me thursday night, but after dealing with the aftermath for a few days and realizing exactly how close it was. It leaves you a bit jittery. Anyway,I just ask everybody to keep some good thoughts for the people in my (normally) quiet suburb....And if you ever think you smell gas,do not hesitate to call your local gas company. You can read more about it and see some pictures of the devastation here. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2010/09/11/MNB91FCDGK.DTL

Glad to hear you're OK.

That thing's making the news over here in Europe as well.
Saw it on TV in Lyon and now in Amsterdam.

Glad to hear you dodged the flames SCL.
Joey, I do not care for Macca.
Please refrain from mentioning, or even thinking
about him in the same level as The Stones.

Thanks everbody. Like I said, more excitement than I needed. Their have been mixed reports about people saying they smelled gas before hand. Everybody's so freaked out now they keep saying they smell gas. Don't fuck around. You smell gas and it wasn't because of something you ate for dinner. Get the hell out. :willya

Just a horrible thing....had no idea you lived there! Wow......really glad to hear you're safe and sound. Natural gas is such a nice way to heat, but I guess it's more dangerous than we ever want to think about....grew up with gas, I now have a heat pump. I know that 4 died---and 4 are missing. :(

my son was all shook up, some kid at his school told him someone set off a huge bomb in SF... having been born and lived there for most of his life he was very upset... thank god his teacher got him real news real fast...
this was the same idiot kid who told him Iraq had a nuclear bomb and was going to attack us, last week... guess it's not a coincidence, he was one of the kids, they had to make special arrangements for b/c his parents didn't want him hearing a speech by the president on education...
