Title: Official videography list.
Post by paul on Sep 8th, 2010 at 11:35am
Hi,

I am filling my ipod classic with some Rolling Stones concerts and wondered if anyone can add to this list. I'm not really into bootlegs, just the "official" releases. (which i convert)

So far i have.

Austin Texas (Bigger Bang)
Rio (Bigger Bang)
Bridges to Babylon tour (secondhand off ebay, easy to find)
Live at the Max
Shine a Light (i edited out the talking bits to make it music only)
The three concerts from the Four Licks DVD. (New York, London and Paris.)

Thats the easy stuff. Now for the harder to find.

Voodoo Lounge Miami ( i have just bought a VHS copy, the DVD is not easy to find)
Voodoo Lounge New Jersey (looking for a used VHS)
Voodoo Lounge Japan (looking for a laserdisc)

Anyone any more suggestions.

Soon you will be able to add "Ladies and Gentlemen - The Rolling Stones" and parts of Cocksucker Blues as official. I have the Voodoo Lounge (Japan) in Laser Disc, same for the Voodoo Lounge "Miami) as far as I know New Jersey is not official

There are a lot of bootlegs in very good quality, those who were recorded from TV shows and programs and made from the first generation copy

BTW, Welcome to the board Paul!! Hope you feel goooood ans stay we're here to rock!

Thanks for the welcome.

I thought the New Jersey concert was sold as a tour souvenir at other venues on the Voodoo Lounge tour. Surely that means it was approved and "official".

Why?  Many bootlegs are far superior to the released stuff.

Any suggestions of some to look out for. I tend to prefer the post Bill Wyman stuff.

You forgot Four Flicks, which includes three official concerts from 02-03.  They're all good.

The Ladies and Gentlemen soundtrack will soon be official and is arguably their all time musical peak.

Others would say that was the early 73 tour of Hawaii and Australia/New Zealand, or fall 73 best represented by a Brussels Affair.

There are many soundboards of the 81 tour, the PPV from Atlantic City in 1989 is easy to find, and their shows in Japan in February of 90 were also outstanding and released on video in Japan, IIRC.

Boots of surpreme quality:
Leeds Lungs (1971)
Brussels Afair (1973)
Handsome Girls (1978 I think)

There´s a shitload of excellent boots, but these three are essential IMO.

Then there's this Urban Jungle set from Barcelona that was broadcasted in the Netherlands and probably a ton of other countries. Not released officialy as far as I know, but the sound quality is fantastic. I don't think I have it anymore, but it's around.
