AT THE MAX IS A PIECE OF SHITE, BAD EDITING

THE BAND PLAYS LIKE SHITE ON MOST TUNES,BAD ENDINGS

THE 89 AC SHOW AND BROADCAST PUTS THIS TO SHAME..

On anything but an IMAX screen, its a waste of time.

I actually went to Paris to see it in '92, and thought it was a fantastic experience.

Watching it on video afterwards, though, is incredibly anti-climactic and pointless.

I took some friends to the IMAX theater and they loved it....but on DVD as Gazza says it's a waste.......

Some parts of At The Max ended up being recreated on a sound stage. I enjoyed it. It's the Stones.

The concert footage comes from East Berlin, Turin and Wembley Stadium (ie the final two shows on Aug 24/25 - not the 3 shows in early July, which used the Urban Jungle stage). They brought the Steel Wheels stage back for a few shows towards the end of that tour (I think it might have been used in Prague and/or Gelsenkirchen as well as the three cities used for the movie - cant recall)

They also filmed footage onstage in the empty stadiums which were used for close ups, etc. There was meant to be a second Turin show on July 29th, but it was cancelled due to poor sales - so they filmed footage for 'At The Max' that day instead. They also spent part of the week leading up to Wembley (having had no show since the 18th) shooting some footage too (I think it was on the 22nd).

ABC's 'In Concert' programme did a pretty interesting documentary just after the movie came out which showed how it was made, and which included some clips of them filming the non-audience footage. Whilst it made very good viewing, it also ended up making the movie look a bit artificial. At the time I saw it, I was just simply blown away by what it was like to watch the Stones performing (at a concert I was at - because originally it was promoted as all being from the Wembley shows) on an 80 foot high screen in a brilliantly filmed and innovative movie.

I guess sometimes it doesn't help to get too much information.

"by the way G what were you wearing?"

cliche, but still a great way to start phone sex.

I thought the Barcelona show was much more powerful. The crowd was fantastic and the band were full of energy. I taped it off tv & stuffed if i can find the tape! OLE! Funny thing about that was the scaffolding covering most of the stage.

I hate the "plastic" guitars they used on that tour. Terrible!

It's not the Stones fault the editing is off timing.

they must only add the documentary " At The Max The Making of" to be a real gem!

I didn't want to start another thread, maybe there should be one for what's on T.V. that's Rock tonight.
The Festival Express, made in 1970, with The G. Dead/Janis & The Band is on at 9 p.m. on Bravo (Ch. 40 Toronto/U.S.)
