Title: Question about the 1971 tour

The University of Leeds, Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, UK - 13 March 1971

As you can see, Stu is very close to Nicky in that picture; as far as I know only Nicky played keyboards on that tour, Stu was managing the tour as well but now I have a question for those who attended that tour "Goodbye Britain" Did Stu played live too?

Well, Stu's only standing in the wings in that photo - as are a few others - he's clearly not playing.

Maybe his proximity to Nicky is more to do with the fact that he's a pianist himself, and whatever roadie duties he had on that tour included tech work with the keyboards? Just a thought.

Nicky was the only piano player on the '71 tour

Thank you very much LOL

I thought he was playing with crossed arms, that's the coolest way to play  [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

Thank you! (now seriously)  that was my question and my guess too but I really had second thoughts

Stu played at the Marquee though.

The reason for that is probably because it was a filmed performance and Ian Stewart got some exposure himself as a one-time member and their roadie. He was there in ’62 – the Oxford St Marquee, though – so I guess it was more fitting him have him tinkering away rather than Nicky Hopkins.

According to Nico Zentgraf's website, Stu played at the Marquee dress rehearsal.

Nicky Hopkins is in the Lion TV special.

If RS Records had "Let it Rock" from Leeds available for release in stereo on the back of a 45, then the Stones have the whole show in stereo - another pointlessly unreleased vault-sitter.

Amazing how tiny that stage is . . .
