Title: Mick had a 'drug problem'...?
Post by texile on Aug 5th, 2010 at 3:54pm
I know he did alot of coke on the 81 tour, but a 'problem'?
When Jerry Hall released her first 'memoir', Bryan Ferry slagged it off as 'exaggerated'. Could this be a lost chapter in the life of Mick Jagger, or just melodramatic flourish?
Jerry will be releasing her photo essay/memoir next month with alot of Mick in it. I bet he can't wait. I will probably be compelled to look.

Hall 'never thought Jagger would cheat'

Hall has reportedly revealed that she thought her ex-husband Sir Mick Jagger would stay faithful to her.

The model admitted that she never believed that Jagger would have an affair after she helped him through his drug problem.

When asked by Tatler if she ever expected Jagger to cheat on her, Hall replied: "Well I thought that as I had helped him clean up with drug addiction, that that was part of it and that he might outgrow it."

The 54-year-old said that when she discovered that the singer was having a baby with another woman, she had to put an end to their relationship.

She explained: "When he had a child with someone else, that was just the last straw.

"I did love Mick very much. But after years and years of being hopeful, you finally give up. Obviously I tried very, very hard. Sometimes it is better that things come to an end. I still love him very much - he's the father of my children."

Hall continued: "It was just one of those things. We met and fell in love. And love makes you do all kinds of things doesn't it?

"Mick was just so overwhelmingly funny and charming - and humour has always been something very attractive to me."

Give me a friggin' break, Jerry.  He was cheating with YOU when you first met.  So were you come to think of it.  I've always liked Jerry but this is a little beyond the pale.

Now, I thought this "tell all" book idea was shelved a long time ago.

As for Jerry claiming Mick had a "drug problem," that is obviously her interpretation of the situation at the time.

I've always had the idea that Mick never let drugs control him, but I could be wrong.

I read Jerry's book "Tall Tales' ages ago.  I like Jerry too.  I think MJ having a baby with Luciana was an accident...he just can't keep IT in his pants....lol.

You're right, Marianne Faithful in her book "Faithful" mentioned the same thing, that Mick would never let drugs effect his body shape, or never loose control with drugs, he knew when he had enough, this coming from the 60's period, but I don't think he's changed in that regard, he's so vain about himself he'd never let that happen, doesn't sound like a drug addict to me, sounds like he's more the drug.

:smilestuMick Jagger definitely had a drug problem. And his drug was love. Not brotherly love: I mean 'penis love'. Like Michael Douglas. Unfortunately, Mick Jagger never really made peace with the homo way of life, and never married David Bowie, the love of his life. 'It's such a sad thing, to see beauty decay', as the folkie who swallowed so many ashtrays would have said.

Mick's 'drug problem's' probably amounted to little more than the occasional drag on a joint and the odd line of charlie - and how many here haven't dabbled with at least one of those at some point in time?

Mick, IMO, is a good boy - and that is something to be greatful for. If it were not for Mick's sound body and mind, there would be no forthcoming world tour to savour. In fact, the boys would've packed it in years ago. Go Mick  :willya

Didn't he get busted for diet pills once upon a time.  He might like to be UP if anything.

In the '67 Redlands bust, they were actually Marianne's but he took the blame for it to keep her out of it, a stand up man indeed.

Well to look at it from Jerry's perspective, for someone who doesnt do drugs, anyone including MICK who does illegal drugs has a drug problem, whether they let it get out of control or not. I dont believe MICK was out of control, but if Jerry didnt do drugs and MICK did, thats a problem, and so she blames MICK's infidelity on the drugs because thats the easiest way for her to accept MICK's cheating. MICK was never unfaithful because of the drugs IMO it was just because MICK loves women and the opportunity was always there for him. I believe MICK has his regrets about the way things ended up with Jerry but he is too proud to ever admit it. A classic case of wanting to have your cake and eat it too.

I suspect its a bit exaggeration.....and like Bitch said, Jerry may want to believe there was a reason why he was so unfaithful. But in an article I read in the mid-80s, there is an anecdote about a birthday party for Jade. According to writer Bob Colacello, Jerry was telling Bianca that she lets Mick do anything he wants.....while a few feet away, Mick is chasing Alana Stewart. I think that says it all. I doubt drugs had little to do with any infidelities....Mick could get away with anything he wanted because she allowed it. That, IMO, is condoning it.
