Title: keith is working?
Post by jeff on Jul 3rd, 2010 at 7:00pm
According to the new rolling stone mag, keith played on a new sheryl crow reggae track and is composing music for lee "scratch" perry, who is sending lyrics to keith (by fax, natch). Throw in wingless angels II and maybe the old devil isn't being so lazy after all...

Sheryl mentioned the song on her interview on Jimmy Fallon (I think) a couple of months back.

The song is called "Eye to Eye". The album ('100 Miles from Memphis') comes out in two weeks. Its supposed to be a 'Memphis soul' sounding record.

First I've heard of a collaboration with Scratch. I'll have some of that!

keith said he hadn't picked up the guitar too... maybe he was joking or do you think he is only doing vocal work?

depends when the track with Sheryl Crow was recorded. Could have been last year sometime (I notice that some of it was recorded at Electric Lady in New York, so that might be where Keith did his bit). He plays guitar on "Eye to Eye" - whether there are vocals too, I dont know.

He mentioned lately that he'd broken a finger recently, so that might have curtailed any playing of late.

Maybe we should give him the benefit of the doubt.
MY impression was that he jammed with Sheryl.
We'll see.

Come on Keith.
Come on Mick.

Come on ECONOMY!!!!

Keith did some guitar overdubs on two tracks on Scratch's 2008 album 'Scratch Came, Scratch Saw, Scratch Conquered'.
Nice to hear about a new collaboration (if true).

Keith is working on something, if this article can be believed:

This is from an Indian publication with no author listed, so for whatever that's worth:

Keith Richards exposes Mick Jagger in autobiography
July 4th, 2010 SindhToday

London, July 4 (ANI): Keith Richards has blasted Mick Jagger for his wild love life, drug-taking and infidelity in his new book.
The Rolling Stones guitarist has taken an astonishing pop at Jagger in his autobiography, ‘Life.’
‘In the draft Keith didn’t hold back on Mick. It was years of frustration coming out,’ News of the World quoted a source close to the band as saying.
‘He’s used it to set the record straight on Mick’s philandering, the affairs, the drug-taking and the fights. It promises to be dynamite.
‘It’s thought management asked him to tone it down but he’s been determined to tell it his way,’ the source added.
Keith has written the memoir in almost three years. He signed a 3.6million pound deal with publishers Weidenfeld and Nicolson.
‘It will be huge. Keith used to joke that he couldn’t remember half the things he’d done but his memory seems fine – and that’s bad news for Mick,’ the source said. (ANI)

Indeed Keef did overdubs on 'Scratch Came.....' Tracks 2 and 11.  Voodoo does nothing for me but 'Once there's a will....' is entertaining!  Track 3 (non Keef), 'Saint Selassie' is an incredible piece reminiscent of his, (LSP), mind set in late 70s.  Awesome.  Scratch's best LP for quite some time.    The prospect of him and Keef collaberating again is wonderful news.

He did indeed - he's on guitar on one song.

There's no doubt in my mind that Keith is always "working." Wingless Angels, The Dirty Strangers, now Sheryl... And I'm sure he writes some simple songs like Hurricane song" "Only found out yesterday" on a regular basis. He might just be making music for himself, and not for the people.

Yeah,it's kind of like if a tree falls in a forest and no one is there to hear it kind of thing....Is he really making music,if he's the only one who hears it?
