Title: the Rocks Off Weight Loss thread (nsc) Post by Starbuck on Jun 19th, 2010 at 2:54pm
OK folks, now that summer is here it is time to focus on ourselves. time to get off the couch and start the blood flowing. the success stories of holden and sean can happen to all of us, and lord knows some of us need to shed the extra weight so we can be there to see the kids graduate from college and start working 7 days a week to help pay off the debt.
my goal: 15 pounds by august 15. it is an attainable goal and will help me fit back into my sullivan suit without the buttons bursting. anyone have any good recipes? suggestions to cut calories? i'd prefer not to do the starvation thing that sean did.... and let's keep it organic here folks. i just paid $7 for a head of broccoli and a dozen organic eggs and it nearly ripped my heart out....but i have had two students loose a parent in the last month due to cancer...and my wife the internist tells me that she has had tons of patients die of cancer in their 30s and 40s, and she is convinced it is because of the foods we eat...the pesticides and the preservatives that are put in the food that we know cause cancer in animals....so if you too choose to join me in this holy quest, eat healthy above all! i would be happy to award a prize to the rocks off biggest loser at the end of the summer if there is interest. |

Bucky,
Try growing your own veggies and herbs. This summer I'm growing my own rosemary, thyme and chives...and hibuscus flowers...among other things. I'm also staying very active...working out several times a week and walking a lot. I also don't have a sweet tooth...but I have a beer tooth. :booze FG! |

All you need to do is just eat LOTS more fruits and vegetables and some lean protein (salmon or chicken) NO CARBS and drink tons and tons and tons of water and lemon juice. IN THE MORNING, make a shake out of blueberries, a banana and some skim milk drink that. it will really fill you up and take some High dose vitamins and walk or run 3 miles a day and you will lose 15 lbs by August for sure.

The only way to lose weight is to consume less calories and exercise.
There is no other way! There is no magic pill! No miracle cream! Just eat between 1,200 to 1, 500 calories daily. Plus, do at least a half hour of cardio every day. And, you will lose weight. I guarantee it. Now, why don't I do it? I was doing it for a while, but . . . I enjoy food too much! Plus, I hurt my leg! I was in physical therapy for almost a year! |

Stardust, don't eat anything after 8pm- start the day when you rise with distilled water and all the fresh fruit and fresh fruit juice you can eat- wait twenty minutes before eating and follow proper food combining, don't mix starches and proteins. It's tough to do. Walk with handweights as often as you can and do push ups and crunches. This could have been a Happy Birthday glencar thread.

I would alternate the morning shake w/ a good bowl of oatmeal...the plain kind and add a tablespoon of real maple syrup, honey, or fresh fruit for added flavor w/o gross store bought flavored oatmeal...10 times cheaper and 100 times healthier Adding as well as a small salad mid afternoon w/o the creamy dressing...instead use nice homemade raspberry or red wine vinaigrette... my goal is to get down to 190 (86Kilo) by the start of August...3 months ago i was 211 (96k) and I am now 197 (89.5k)...at 6'1"...my doctor said/recommended 195 is more realistic...but i can get to 190 or reeeeeeal close. I'm six foot even in height, weighed 226 pounds on January 3rd. I've been 151 pounds for the last eight weeks now. No easy answers Bucky....if you want a LOT off, you must either skip meals or dramatically cut them down---do crunches, lift weights, do an aerobic activity for at least 30 minutes a day. At all costs, processed foods are to be avoided. I replaced the snifter with a shot glass and limit the alcohol intake to 2-3 glasses of wine and 4 shots a day. I also gave up beef (planning my first steak here in a coupla weeks!). Eat more fish, less dairy. Even Keith Richards says of cheese, "I won't put that shit in my body"......No snacks unless they're fruit or unsalted nuts...keep exercising, you'll need to work in the extra skin you will free up....when you've hit where you want to be, start keeping a calorie count and keep the daily intake in the 2200-2500 range if you're moderately active, 2000 if mostly sedentary. Keep a log---bio-feedback is positive reinforcement....don't step on a scale until a month goes by....just some random thoughts....

Day 1: June 24
-two bowls of "berry berry kix" (%$#!in' kids ate most of the first bowl) for breakfast -organic apple, fresh picked strawberries and half of a bagel with fresh strawberry jam and skippy "extra chunk" for lunch -dinner to be served @ 5:30 PM: one bean enchillada, broccoli, can of "diet squirt" -physical activity: game of catch with oldest planned during middle child's tball game tonight. possible treadmill if the kids fall asleep before midnight which rarely happens -bitch's "#5" suggested to mrs starbuck...response included some mild expletives, something along the line of "not until you get your @#$ off the couch and get all your $#@! out of the $#@ned minivan". work in progress. current stats: 6'4", 233 lbs. there but for the grace of god go i. |

Well you can join Weight Watchers on line. Or you can go to Eat This Not That for information. Go on the Internet and see what
a real weight loss diet can do. You DO need carbs they provide the fuel to burn for the day. Lay off the sweets, no calorie food. Find a good exercise program you can stick to, and you will lose weight. The recommended weight loss is 1 to 2 pounds per week. GOOD LUCK!!! I have Diabetes 2 so I really have to diet more than non-diabetic people. |
