Why the fuck not?
My friend is a member of the IORR board and when he told me politics were a no-no, i thought that was stupid. What are they, children? I keep politics out of the work environment, social scenarios as much as i can, but on a message board, I think its totally acceptable.
I wonder if the more conservative Stones fans don't like it because they have that sinking feeling that the Stones are not conservative.
I've dissagreed with Steel Wheels, RiffHard plenty of times and people, including me, can get pretty sanctimonious and downright nasty.
But the great thing is that on another thread, I will wholeheartedly agree with Steel or Riff about Exile On Main Street....that's a great thing, being able to dissagree and then get over it.

To me its no more irrelevant than any other off topic subjects. Its unrealistic to expect people to live in some kind of vacuum.

The only issue is that - unlike those other off topic subjects - too many people cant be trusted to keep it civilized.

Once it descends into sermonising, trolling or personal abuse, then it crosses the line.

I would love for it to be a limitee, but civil debate, but it is niether... I say no... if it is a strict no, then I can avoid it altogether, I get sucked in to easy... and I hate that I've oarticipated in the things Gazza is mentioning...

Hey now baby, get into my big black car.
Hey now baby, get into my big black car.
I want to just show you what my politics are.
I'm a political man and I practice what I preach.
I'm a political man and I practice what I preach.
So don't deny me baby, not while you're in my reach.
I support the left, though I'm leaning, leaning to the right.
I support the left, though I'm leaning to the right.
But I'm just not there when it's coming to a fight.
Hey now baby, get into my big black car.

Anytime you have two or more people, you have politics.  Politics is in almost everything in life and almost everything in the world can have a political component to it.  Talk of kicking Ronnie out of the band, for example, is political - the governing body in that case is most likely The Glimmer Twins.

there's a distinction when it comes to social poltics and the politics of ruling a country and justice and law ie: govt.

I see your ppint, because they can be much alike, but also completely different... socially when someone feels crossed, like a couple where a partner cheated and friends take sides... there's an emotional aspect and a social dynamic... where in politcs, even though you have people who disagree on cetain topics, they still will hangout and even can be friends.... you see it all the time... as an example, there's people here, who no longer are my friend b/c of a disagreemnt, yet the politicians who diagreed, may have no problem with each other... kinda ironic!!! Yet, I think it was the intent of politicians and others to get people fired up against each other, so they can keep a focus of the fact, they are not really serving the public. It's brilliant in that sense... and the media is their greatest tool... and we are just tools!!!

Should Politics be Allowed on Rocks Off?

I told you once and I told you twice... For me is OK, but first I don't read it

If it is a discussion, I mean dialogue with arguments is good, but it always end in rude fights, insults and similar and the end is having people leaving the board even that the administrators don't give a fuck.

So if you enter into that, do it at your own risk

I get a laff when it comes down to whose side is right... the only thing that pisses me off is when it creeps into a thread started by someone and the topic gets hijacked by mud slinging. Stones fans should have more class and respect for their peers than to do that.

Is it just me or do conservatives seem less intelligent, less funny, less happy, less sexual and a whole hell of a lot less fun?

But they do have Jesus and all the phony bullshit that goes with him.

That's weird, I kind of thought that Jesus was on the left or a least very liberal in his day, I thought he was against the way religion was being practiced in his day, clearing the temple of all the bad stuff, and teaching things like love your neighbor. I don't think that Conservatives have the corner on less intelligent, less funny, less happy or less anything than say liberals. I kind of think that both sides right and left, can at times, show their ass pretty well.  IMO.

First...you have to live in Washington, DC for  20 years...
then you get so sick of it...
too many people, having too many opinions...
and your head starts to explode...
so you drink...
laugh at them...
and you still read the Washington Post every morning like your life depends on it...

There isn't an opinion I haven't heard as a bartender in DC...from locals...tourists...lobbyist...non-profits anarchists...or soviet dissidents...

You just listen...nod...shrug your shoulders from time to time...and get a good tip!!!

      Yes,I agree with Gazza ,
.....and I understand Pdog.  Unfortunately very often I see just the same (and I even don't have in view our board) - people begin to talk as best
friends, then they touch on a politics, and 10 minutes later they are at each other's throats. And one even doesn't listen another and doesn't try to understand - everyone listens only himself.... And it's impossible to listen and understand anything without respect for the individual.
As Voltaire said - “I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”

Heavy question. I never post on this kind of thread, but I've been fucked up for several days and here ya go. When your with your Stones friends partying, does it matter what their politics are? Where they come from? Their past? Who likes who? We got a beautiful thing going, why fuck it up with world affairs. Enjoy what you have now, we are not getting any younger. You earn what you reep in this world.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.
