Title: Buddy Holly question Post by Starbuck on May 27th, 2010 at 12:10pm
I've been getting into Buddy Holly as of late....very impressive stuff. I've always loved the hits but recently procured a 50 song double disc with a lot of the deeper stuff. dude knew how to write a good song, that's for sure. everything's about love, but still....
anybody know how many songs he wrote? surprisingly prolific for only being around a year and a half or so. |

On the Larry King interview, Mick mentioned that Buddy Holly was very big when he was growing up, & especially as a songwriter, I'm not sure how many songs he wrote, but he wrote a lot.

I did a story about Buddy a couple years ago ... he recorded about 100 songs, writing or co-writing about 40 of them:

It's a good 'un, but not quite his best, IMO. 'Maybe Baby', 'Oh Boy' and 'Rave On' are my three favourites. An enormously talented individual. |

An amazing catalog, and an unbelievable, influential legacy, for a man so young to die.....I'm glad we had him for the short time we did!
That pic of the phone is AMAZING. So historic... |

I get the impression that the Texan audience were a little dissapointed when he announced he was going to perform 'Learning The Game' I think they were expecting a 'Peggy Sue' or 'That'll Be The Day'.
Fine performance, though, I must admit. |

Well, quite. I'm sure the majority loved it once Keith got it started, but it's hard not to notice the somewhat subdued response after he announces it. |

Keith rarely gets an enthusiatic response from the crowd expet when he's introduced... at some shows more than others, alot of times you can feel half the crowd sigh and then a large amount start talking and moving off to merch or go pee, when he starts to sing and play and Jagger has left the stage. |
