Reminds me of the 70's when Mark Farner cut of his very long hair (suppose to be longest hair in Rock) although I think Neal Smith & Dennis Dunaway of the original Alice Cooper group had the longest, I cut my of in '74, it was almost waist length, I found I got stereo-typed into a hippie image, I wanted to change.

No, I was drunk, & got my hair-cut marine style, copied from a photo of Lou Reed at that time, around the time of Rock & Roll animal album came out.

 It is hard to keep long hair looking good when you get up there in age without going to the hairdresser every 3-4 weeks to cover the white and "even out" the fade out of the last few inches..  Not to forget the horrible split ends and broken hair from wearing a braid for soooo many years.  He probably just wanted to start all over with some "healthy" hair.

Hey now, I had the longest hair in RnR.  Over 3 feet long in my heyday baby.  Yes, the split ends must be trimmed often....which my Mother would do for me.  People would literally fawn over my hair back then.  Now it has fallen out....change of life.  At least that didn't happen to Mr. Nelson.  :-)

I'm glad I still have mine, even though I destroy it with bleach... completely fried... even when I don't color it, it still seems blown out!

Yeah, Willie said he got tired of "keeping it up". I do understand... ;) Hard to imagine him without his trademark pigtails, though! I know--I've seen the pix, but it just looks strange....yup, he's cool, all right.  8-)
