According to a close insider via our friend Nik, Waddy Wachtel is going to play live with the stones the next tour, the Stones gave Ronnie and ultimatum and if he does not respond he's out, now as the leader of the "red faces" pissed the stones off even more

I could go for this much easier than Charlie not being with the Stones.

I second that big time, funny thing is Ronnie has been with The Stones longer then Mick T. & Brian, I remember a poll I did on here a while back on Ronnie, Mick & Brian as to who's favorite of the three, Ronnie sunk down to nothing, Mick won, & 2nd place Brian.

If Waddy is going to play with Keef, I'd rather have a Winos tour. I could go for hearing those songs live again.

Ronnie is a Stone so much at this point there's no way he'd be kicked out.

bigger fish have been thrown back for being loaded... dee dee ramone was the main songwriter, booted for being too high. Axl kicked everyone out of G n' R for drug use... Ronnie was huge in the band, unilt around Licks... He has fallen apart, and he isn't a writer... he is replacable IMO... I'm not shocked and won't be surpised, dude is fucked up and dead weight... i'd rather see a replacement than pay money to cringe everytime a solo comes up....

At least Ronnie's playing.

It's been almost three years since the last Stones show, and Keith wasn't exactly shredding on that tour.
And his recent comments that it's been a while since he picked up a guitar don't inspire a lot of confidence that he'll rebound for the next one.

Prolly not a bad idea to add another guitarist even if Woody doesn't get the sack...

That wouldn't be so bad, actually. From what I recall of the Winos, he doesn't overplay and can do some tasty slide guitar as well. It could fit quite nicely. And most importantly, it would mean 8% more money for Mick with the take split three ways instead of four :blankfriggingstare1!

It's a no-brainer, as far as I'm concerned. Waddy would immeasurably improve the sound of the Stones live.

The fact that Mick Taylor's canceled his last two US tours for health reasons might cast serious doubt on that possibility...

Ya know I was thinking the other night when Waddy was playing for Bernard in front of KEEF, it was kind of like Waddy was showcasing his guitar playing like an audition for KEEF. Waddy was especially awesome that night, he was absolutely brilliant.

Good hear he was on his game. I'm sure Keith already regards him highly, having been in the X-Pensive Winos and all. The American guitarist thing isn't a huge issue, after all they considered Wayne Perkins and Harvey Mandel in the 70's. MT is a nice thought but, yeah, health issues are a major concern.

If Ronnie's can another 60 days sober and then another 60 after that, he may have a chance.
It's too bad he's squandered his talent. He was ace in the 70's and his solo on the Love You Live version of YCAGWYW is one of my faves.

Mick's voice has changed.  That Jagger growl isn't there anymore.  It isn't bad, just different.

Sure his voice is different.
I disagreed with the "consistent" comment.

Performance wise, I've never left a Stones show thinking that Mick had an off night.

Can't say the same for Keith or Woody...

No I am NOT saying MICK is a disappointment because he never is. I just said his voice doesnt sound like it used to, due to his age, and his style has changed. He used to slur his words in the drinking and drugging days. Now it's perfect annunciation. but MICK's energy level has stayed high and his performance level is consistant. Most importantly, MICK's extreme sexiness has remained like a magnet, a strong physical force that cant be denied even at his age now!

While I think that Waddy is up to the task, I can think of only one person that could replace Ronnie. Sadly the man has health issues. And much as I want it, I don't think MT is gonna return to the band. And IMO it's pointless to change the lineup in this stage of the Stones. I'd go and see the show with Waddy, but it wouldn't be the same.

Best news of the month and even better news if he records a new album with them. The last guitar part of interest on a Stones record dates back to "Saint of Me" and it was Waddy.

It's too bad they didn't fire Ronnie in 1984 though, he's been useless since and the Stones would be in a better place musically. Especially embarassing were the 95 and 97 tours.

I agree with you. Slash said himself he was greatly influenced by Mick Taylor. He played some great Stones covers live over the years. Also he's one of the rare older people that have managed to hold on to their "cool" factor. And Let's face it, replacing Wood with someone unknown wouldn't help out ticket sales.

Oh and btw, who here picked up Slash's new album? It's really good!

Good ? Well I guess it's better than the think he put out in 1995 but the guy still can't write a decent song to save his life, a bit lick Mick T, or Nicky H...unlike Mick and Keith...

They don't need Slash to sell tickets, Izzy would be a better choice, unfortunately he doesn't like to fly.

I don't think Waddy's skills are a subject of this thread, he's a fine performer. I do not see him as a suitable replacement for Ronnie because it's too late in the game for the Stones to replace one of the band members. IMO Mick T is the only acceptable option, and he is as much an insurance risk as Ronnie..

From one Virginian to another No problem, I was just tryin the photo shop thin out and I'm not very good, Iwas worried I had offended a Ron Wood fan, Which by the way I am very much one and would hate to see him replaced, Other than  by a sentimental favorite like Mick Taylor.
I was angered by the replacement on bass,by and  of his own doing, Bill Wyman, "you don't quit the Stones"
I would have preferred he record with them and let Say "Glen Campbell" play on the road, wink wink BB referrence only.......... I got your back boss. Thanks for the response.................From one Stones fan to another I want Woody to play as long as he can, with all the greats like he has all these years.
One of my favorite concerts I got to see, and finally get a recording of was  him at a  Fats Domino tribute,  Ray Charles and Jerry Lee Lewis.........Paull Shafer headed it up.
Ron Wood one of the great of all time.........no doubt about it, I would never do that man or one of his fans and injustice.
