For what it's worth:

Ageing rockers Rolling Stones to thunder Down Under in 2012 world tour

THE Rolling Stones are spearheading a galaxy of rock 'n' roll superstars set to tour Australia.

The ageing rockers, led by Mick Jagger, are making plans for a world tour that will reach Australia by 2012.

"The Stones are coming - and they want crazy money," a respected tour promoter told the Sunday Herald Sun.

The Stones will play stadiums and have already rebuffed other overseas offers of $2.4 million a show.

A local promoter who pitched $14.4 million for six shows in three cities was told by agents for the Stones: "You are not even in the ball park."

People in the Stones camp say US drummer Steve Jordan will stand in for Charlie Watts, who has vowed to quit world touring.

And they say guitarist Keith Richards has reconvened the band to make a new album and take a show on the road.

"This has been rumbling for the last 18 months. Offers are on the table," a source said. "An announcement and dates are imminent."

The Rolling Stones' media handlers, US firm Rogers and Cowan, did not respond to email inquiries about tour plans.

But a source within the Stones said: "Keith has put the call out for a new album and a world tour."

The Herald Sun

Unnamed promoters and sources in the Stones camp, an "imminent" announcement, and especially the regurgitating of the Charlie's quitting rumor make this story extremely dubious...

:wtf3

Must've gotten his intel from Paul Cashmere...

Charlie denied that rumor months ago, and said last week that's he in for another tour.

Well I can believe the part about wanting boatloads of money. But no way they replace Charlie.

Charlie Watts Is Out Of The Stones Story Resurfaces

by Paul Cashmere - May 23 2010

When I wrote the story that Charlie Watts had left The Rolling Stones back in September 2009 it sent shockwaves across the world. Stones fans everywhere went into denial. Stones spokesperson Fran Curtis childishly reverted to calling us names.

It is becoming more apparent that Charlie Watts is no longer a touring member of the band.

Today in the Herald Sun, respected music journalist Nui Te Koha backed up the original Undercover story stating “US drummer Steve Jordan will stand in for Charlie Watts, who has vowed to quit world touring” on the band’s next tour”.

Jordan has a history with The Stones and especially with Keith. He played in Keith’s other band The X-pensive Winos. Our original story named Charley Drayton, also an X-Pensive Wino, as the drummer. That’s the only part that has changed in the 9 months since the original story.

While Charlie may have stopped touring with the band, he is definitely still very much part of The Rolling Stones as a business. There has certainly been no indication that he will not record with the band, just that he won't tour.

The Stones have a history of denying stories. When Bill Wyman left the band, it took 18 months for confirmation. At the time they were in hiatus and simply denied he had quit. When they got back together, Bill wasn’t there.

The Stones have a similar window of opportunity to deny Charlie won’t be behind the drum-kit for the next tour. They have been vocal in the past two weeks talking up the expanded and remastered ‘Exile On Main Street’. That has lead to lots of questions about when they will be back on the road, to which Keith Richards has responded “not this year”.

2012 is the obvious time for The Stones to go back on the road. It will mark their 50th anniversary.

No doubt there will be more Charlie Watts has left the band denials this week. To put it back into Stonespeak “time is on our side”.

Nui Te Koa 1st met the band "one on one" in 94/95. He indeed did break the story the band would tour Oz for the 1st time in 22 years (at the time). He flew to Tokyo to review the shows. Amazingly, everything was 10 out of 10. When the Stones came to Oz in March 95, Nui was in the front row at the MCG conference, and Ronnie is on record as saying "We know you, dont we??"
:smilemick
Never the less. This story of a 2011-2012 tour made headlines today and you just know it's shit. 1st off, of course, they aint gonna play here without major money. $2.6mill per gig is my understanding. Forget that. Whatever we get will be after a U.S. tour. What ANY one gets, will be after a U.S. tour. The U.S. pays for the rest of the world. They play Yank land to break even, an all the rest is gravy.

No Charlie? Utter, utter shit. Every one here knows it, but monkeys who read the paper over burnt toast, co-agulated marmalade and 22 year old dressing gowns believe it. As i told my wife, Charlie has quit after every tour since 1969. FACT!!!!

The whole article is full of inaccurate lies and "inside Stones sources". IN other words, bullshit. There is not one link to lok anything in.  :Youmakeagrownmancrylikejoey

Yeah, sure, they may tour here. As part of their farewell tour. But we will be after the U.S. And maybe Sth America. And Japan.

And it's been disgused here a few times. Keith is "marshalling the troops". The dude admitted to Jimmy Fallon he's hardly played a guitar since the last tour. Forget Jordan. We will probably need Blondie, Wachtel, Satriani, Vai and a fat Mick Taylor to not only replace a hopeless Ronnie, but a lazy, lazy, lazy Keith.

So whats the big frigging deal?  :nanker

Charlie said just this week that he is looking forward to recording and touring with the Stones. He also mentioned that it was fun.

This report is bullshit.

The Stones have, for the second time in 8 months, dismissed Cashmere's story as bollocks.

Now is there any chance he can he take the hint and just fuck off??

http://www.nme.com/news/the-rolling-stones/51196

"Contrary to a fabricated and ill informed report that appeared yesterday on a small music website in Australia, we would like to make it clear that drummer Charlie Watts has not left The Rolling Stones," a spokesperson explained.

"Charlie is currently being interviewed by the media promoting their latest project - the release of the album 'Exile on Main Street' and the forthcoming film Stones In Exile, released on DVD next month.’’

The spokesperson added that Watts will be with his bandmates later today "celebrating with the rest of the Stones… as the 'Exile' album is Number One in the UK charts".

Yeah, but until they actually do go back on tour and Charlie is behind the drum kit. The guy can keep claiming he's right. Like he said,it was 18 months before they acknowledged Bill leaving.

Thank God.   (((who is that twerp anyway?)))

Because Charlie is the glue. If Chas. quit, then Keith would quit and then Mick would quit and then Ronnie would say fuck it.   And that would be a big mess wouldn't it?

Yep. That rebuke was pointed directly at Cashmere, even though he didn't write the Herald Sun article.

Pretty clear who they think provided info to that "respected music journalist"...

The way I see it its a good sign. See you have to have the rumor that Charlie is quitting right before the album and tour announcement. Its a prerequisite.   :smoking

Seems like a spiteful move timed to deflect attention away from 'Exile'.

Had either of those journalists read and/or listened to any recent interviews they'd have heard it from the man himself, not some unnamed source.

I hate the way the Stones are refered to as ageing rockers. Surely, everyone is constantly ageing! And this Chasmere guy seems like quite the arrogant piece of shite. He critises Stones fans(us!!) for denying the romours. Well of course we're going to deny them, THEIR HORSESHIT!!! He gets on as if we are little idiotic fan girls but we're probably more informed than him. He wouldn't know his arse from his elbow anymore than he would know Satisfaction from Tumbling Dice.....

Love the offical statement that kinda slags him off and belittles the story. The only problem with the Exile re-release is that the media are more tempted to post bullshit. I mean Keith and Mick fighting at a premier??? Really??? Good thing that Micks wife was there to break it up! Who, Bianca???
At least with this Exile stuff getting attention, Ronnies getting a bit of peace and quiet from the tabloids. But why be soooo ill informed? Sky News website had a pic with the caption, "fashion designer L'Wren Scott arrives at Cannes with her HUSBAND Mick Jagger!" maybe it was another secret Hindu seremony or some shit! Fuck sake..... :retarded

Aye, the Daily Mail even ran a story that claimed that Keith fell out with Mick at one of the NYC media events last week and refused to fly to Cannes to promote 'Stones in Exile'

Ignoring the fact that it was widely known BEFORE the New York media appearances that Mick would be the ONLY band member going to Cannes.

Knobends.

I've been wanting both to happen for about 25 years now. 1 out of 2 ain't bad.
