I'm sure this has been done, but here goes. What are your favorite Stones Exile covers.
My pick is Linda Ronstadt's live version of Tumbling Dice. Its the one that sparked my Stones love and it remains the one that nailed the groove without trying to mimic the Stones, as if anyone could. Its also helped by Waddy Wachtel's guitar. Linda was a "songbird", but she gets down on this song in a way Sheryl Crowe never could. And this was way before it was cool to love Exile. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeYtyw8vgn4 |

This version with Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings smokes - www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrbdtsLSy0Y I've watched Elvis Costello & The Sugarcanes take on 'Happy' a lot lately - www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZONDTvTxzP4 Steve Earle's been doing 'Sweet Virginia' for years. He and the missus seem to really enjoy singing it. And then there's the night that Springsteen joined Steve and The Dukes on that - and a few others... 8-) |

I like some '05 versions better, but can't find the vids. Great version. White Stripes Stop Breaking Down kicks ass, as most of us know. |

Otis' Satisfaction does rule (you bastards). If we include all Stones, it's gotta chance to be #1. Allison Crowe's version of Shine a Light is pretty good, a bit faster than the original, and more modern, but I dig it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LuFdhY5rc4

No problem Thanks for the Mistake I Love Otis' Version of the song, What a band, As it has been said Otis got Satisfaction Right. IMO Otis did to the stones what Aretha did to Him on Respect. "Keith May Have wrote it but Otis Righted it." :wtf1 Jesus Otis was great, we have no idea what we missed by his early death. |

Candy Snatchers - Rip This Joint
http://ijwthstd.webs.com/apps/blog/show/3918775-candy-snatchers-cover-rip-this-joint- Was hoping to post this about the same time as the TV show but it took a few weeks to secure permission, then I got lazy. Will check out the others though. |

Shame to admit, but I don't really LOVE the Stones version, while Slim's is a bit better for me. The Stones' version just doesn't go anywhere. Robert Randolph does a fun version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKw_5qeVk00&feature=related |
