Statement released by his wife: Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45 a.m. [on Sunday] 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private goodbyes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.” |

RIP Godfather. There was a rumor about his death last night but I went to bed feeling positive that it was false. Woke up to read the news that he died this morning. Bummer Sunday.
Oh, and one more thing. |

Even that I don’t like his music (I have three of his solo-records) I really like the way he sings rock, I saw him live with Sabbath in May 1982 at the Madison Square Garden (Concert moved from February) and then in Mexico City two times with Black Sabbath and one with Heaven and Hell, he really knew how to sing. Back in the mid 70 I do remember me and my friends doing a cover of Rainbow’s “Long Live Rock and Roll” with me singing
I stopped to buy Black Sabbath and Dio music in the 80s as their music became real crap, however some months ago I bought the last “Heaven & Hell” record “The Devil You Know” (2009) and it was a so-so album but with a very good singer. I’m gonna listen it again to see if I like it a little bit more, I bought that album after seeing them live, alive they are very good but playing the music they did in the 70s ¿67? Dude was old!!I can’t believe he was that old This is my daughter with the poster inside the last album This is Ronnie in this poster |

No, he was only 60 Though the wind won't help you fly at all Your back's to the wall Then chain the sun And then it turns around and face you As you run, you run, you run! Behind a smile There's danger and a promise to be told You'll never get old Life's fantasy To be locked away and still to think you're free You're free You're free! So live for today Tomorrow never comes Die young, die young Can't you see the writing in the air? Die young, gonna die young Someone stopped the fair Gather the wind Though the wind won't help you fly at all Your back's to the wall Then chain the sun And then it turns around and face you As you run, you run, you run! So live for today Tomorrow never comes Die young, young Die young, die young Die young, die young, young Die Young Die Young Die Young Die Young Die Young Die Young |

Title: Re: RIP Ronnie James Dio (nsc) Post by ijwthstd on May 16th, 2010 at 6:36pm I am pretty sure 67 is accurate if not a downward adjustment - his first record was in 1958. |

Didn't know he was ill.
What a shame. I saw him in New Orleans on Halloween in 1985. As I recall, there was a full moon that night! Spooky!!!! |

RIP, Ronnie.
It's hard to believe that the clean cut chap on the far left would later go on to join Black Sabbath |

Lucky BASTARDO!! I didn't go to that show but I have it in the old-fashion bootleg records as shown here: I liked to attend heavy rock shows when I was living in NYC but never liked heavy metal, in fact I hate it; as I wrote before in the mid-80s I stopped buying and listening bands that became heavy as Uriah Heep, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Dio, etc I was at the Black Sabbath show at the Madison Square Garden in May 1982 (moved from February) that was the first time I saw Dio singing live, a great show too bad it didn't make it on the Live Evil album |

LOL as you can see in the second picture the bootlegger made big fuck ups like changing credits and omitting a song
Great show, I think this comes from the KBFH |
