Keith Richards Hints At Special Rolling Stones Gigs
Guitarist talks about their live plans... May 10, 2010 by Jason Gregory Keith Richards has hinted that the Rolling Stones may stage a series of one-off gigs which see them play some of their most famous albums in full. The guitarist told XFM that the idea had been suggested within the group, but that any plans had yet to be finalised. “I have heard a rumour being passed around, but it's in the rumour area," Richards said. “I have heard the idea being mentioned in passing. Where there's smoke, there's fire, you know? He added: “That idea has occurred a few years back, where tonight you do 'Let It Bleed'… it’s an idea that’s been around, but we haven't taken it by the horns yet.” The Rolling Stones last tour, A Bigger Bang, ended in 2007. Richards’ comments coincide with the re-release of the band’s 1972 album 'Exile On Main Street'. http://www.gigwise.com/news/56267/Keith-Richards-Hints-At-Special-Rolling-Stones-Gigs |

I posted a link to that interview in the 'Exile' section for anyone who wants to download it.
The above quote is a bit out of context, to be honest. The interviewer just prompted him with a question asking if they ever thought about doing all of Exile and to say Keith's response to it and his comments about future Stones plans were vague, would be putting it mildly. For the journalist to say that Keith Richards has hinted that the Rolling Stones may stage a series of one-off gigs which see them play some of their most famous albums in full is absolute nonsense. He said nothing of the sort. Anyway, in his interview in Uncut a couple of montsh ago, Charlie dismissed the whole idea as unworkable. |

With all due regard to Charlie, I don't see why the idea is "unworkable." If the desire and demand were there, there's no reason they couldn't play, say, the 10 songs of "Some Girls" in sequence.
It's interesting that Keith calls it a "rumor"—as though he has no influence over the matter whatsoever! You really do get the feeling that the machine rides him, and not the other way around. |

Key words here are "desire and demand." I, for one, would not want to hear half or most of an entire show coming from one or two albums. I'd rather hear a sampling of various tunes from throughout their career, but not the usual "warhorses." I think Mick & Chuck could eliminate the top 20 airplay songs and still come up with a killer setlist that most everyone would still enjoy. Just my opinion. |

I think he meant to say this idea has been raised before, i.e., during the Licks tour, they had album theme night for the set list until that phased out toward the end of the tour.

Georgia May's talent to shock By Nicole Lampert Last updated at 1:54 PM on 11th May 2010 * Comments (67) * Add to My Stories Hellraising friends. Wild parties. As Georgia May Jagger's grounded by her father, where COULD she have got her rebellious streak from? After several hours of mixing pints with tequila shots, Georgia May Jagger is the centre of attention at the Roebuck pub in Richmond. The occasion is her 18th birthday - and with her hips swaying, arms up in the air and top unbuttoned down to almost her naval, she really is a chip off the old block. And, as usual, those unmistakable lips are highlighted in scarlet lipstick - so fond is she of wearing the colour that her friends call her 'Scarlet'. Very true. Also, the Stones are not a prog group. These are not concept albums. So what's the point, really? They have a huge catalog from 48 years of work, the possibilities for mix-and-matching are much more intriguing. |

It actually stayed in for the whole tour for the arena shows. I was at almost all the UK shows towards the end of the tour and all three Wembley Arena shows (which were the last arena shows) had a different 'themed' album featured - Exile, Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers. It was a great concept, but it diverted significantly from some of the early plans (Ronnie even stated that they might do 'Exile' from start to finish at one of the theatre shows..... ::) ). Usually, they stuck to the same 3 albums (although Beggars and on one occasion Tattoo You got occasionally 'featured') but it was usually just 3-5 or so songs back to back. |

[/quote] Yep, but it lost all meaning when they started to include Tumbling Dice in the 'Exile-set' and Brown Sugar in the 'Sticky Fingers' one - songs they'd have performed anyway. :forfucksake |
