Title: RIP Jim Marshall
Post by Voodoo Chile In Wonderland on Mar 24th, 2010 at 4:56pm
Jim Marshall, the photographer who captured some of rock & roll’s most unforgettable images including photos of Jimi Hendrix burning his guitar at Monterey Pop and Johnny Cash flipping the bird at San Quentin, died in his sleep last night in New York. He was 74.

RIP Jim and thanks for all the header he gave us and all the images he gave to the world

THANKS  for all the great photo's. as a photographer myself his work never ceased to amaze me. back in the film days his work was nothing short of extratrodinary. nothing is more difficult to photograph than fast moving action in low light or changing light like you have at concerts, film had to be pushed to the limit. i remember being at a show at the great american music hall in san francisco and he was there and chet helms was there. he was shooting away, i didnt say anything but just watched him work..........

Well Voodoo - hell of a job on the Marshall header today!!

Not sure about the rest of ya, but once a tour ends, I need a year or so to kind of decompress.
And while I still listen to the boys, I kind of lose my passion for a bit.

But the headers and discussions these past few weeks have really set the Stonesian hook for me lately.
Spring is in the air, warm weather slowly creeping in.
Memorial Day not too far away....

This Exile release has the trappings of a Stonesian rebirth.
And the outtakes thread has made me realize that I need to dig out some of my old boots.
Jizzy's mention of Middle of the Sea really stuck in my head - those Voodoo outtakes are great.

Sweet remembrance from John Mayer.

The one of Mick and Keith in 72 with the JD bottle is my fave of the Glimmer Twins.
Those images were so much a part of Rock and Roll iconography for me. Didn't we all just stare at those photos forever when we were kids?
RIP...
