Title: Your Top 5 Outtakes
Post by Throwaway on Mar 23rd, 2010 at 6:21pm
Figured it's about time to ask the question again: what are your favorite Stones songs that were never on an official release?  Include an alternate version of a released track if you think it's that good!

IMO, they are:
Spare Parts
Travellin' Man
Living In the Heart of Love
Think I'm Going Mad
Yellow Cab

If You Let Me

I Can See It {aka, Get Yourself Together}

Could never see the appeal of 'No Spare Parts'. It'd be nice to hear a 'finished' take though, because Mick's vocal on the one that circulates is a mess.

Still A Fool
Hillside Blues
Travellin' Man
For Your Precious Love
Do You Think I Really Care

'Travellin' Man' is only a rough vocal too, but the performance absolutely 'schmmmokes' .  :smoking

I love it as an outtake - fun to listen to, a nice little groove, without much cohesion.  If it were released, I'd make it last 4:00  maximum.

'Honest Man'
'Claudine'
'Travellin' Man'
'Highway Child'
'We Had It All'

BTW, 'Think I'm Going Mad' was actually released officially.
It was the b-side of the 'She Was Hot' single.

Great tune...

Ah, my bad.  Where can one get Honest Man?  Is that the one off Voodoo Stew?

Everything they recorded for Some Girls and Emotional Rescue that was left off, even the instrumentals were great. Those sessions were phenomenally prolific.
Blood Red Wine
Save Me
I love the Ladies (whatever its called)
Think I'm going Mad

I absolutely love the sound on those sessions, and especially the stuff from 'Some Girls' with Sugar Blue on harmonica. Even the obviously unfinished bluesy tracks like 'It's A Lie'.
