Rolling Stones Releasing Classic Videos On DVD & Blu-ray
Eagle Rock Entertainment have signed a deal with the Rolling Stones to release two DVDs this year. The Rolling Stones have long been viewed by many as Britain's most important rock 'n' roll band and these releases, concentrating on some of their finest work laid down in the '70s, will certainly cement that reputation. The first of the releases Stones In Exile is the story of the making of the classic album Exile On Main Street, which was released in 1972 as a double LP and is considered by many to be their masterpiece. This title is due to be released in June with substantial bonus material and follows the broadcast of the main show by the BBC in late May, and the reissue of the album at the same time. The second of the releases is Ladies And Gentlemen...The Rolling Stones, the legendary Rolling Stones concert film from 1972. Fully restored from the original film, it will be released nationally in cinemas and then receive its first ever authorized DVD release. The title will also be released in high definition on Blu-ray in the Autumn of 2010. The Rolling Stones line-up featured on both Stones In Exile and Ladies And Gentlemen... is: Mick Jagger - vocals; Keith Richards - guitars; Bill Wyman - bass; Charlie Watts - drums; Mick Taylor - guitars. Geoff Kempin of Eagle Rock commented, "We are delighted to add a band of such unparalleled caliber as the Rolling Stones to our catalogue and are delighted to bring to consumers a pair of such important and high quality titles." Eagle Rock Entertainment is an international media production and distribution company operating across audiovisual entertainment programming. Eagle Rock Entertainment works directly alongside talent to produce the highest quality programming output covering film, general entertainment and musical performance. Eagle Rock Entertainment has offices based in London, New York, Germany, France & Toronto. |

I just came.
When UrbanSteel was told to take down his L&G footage, I figured a release was on the way, but I expected it to be part of the 'Exile' package. Great news. |

Title: Re: Ladies and Gentlemen coming to DVD and BluRay Post by left shoe shuffle on Mar 18th, 2010 at 5:09pm Great news. And a disincentive to buy the Super Deluxe "Exile", with the fleshed out "Stones In Exile" DVD coming in June... |

Is that another version? So this is the only difference? |

Title: Re: Ladies and Gentlemen coming to DVD and BluRay Post by left shoe shuffle on Mar 18th, 2010 at 5:21pm The press release says "Stones In Exile" will include substantial bonus material. To me that reads "not the same 30 minute DVD that's in Super Deluxe." |

Ah yes, I misread your post. Thought you meant another version of the Exile reissue package was coming out in June with the full length version of the 'Stones in Exile' DVD.

Title: Re: Ladies and Gentlemen coming to DVD and BluRay Post by left shoe shuffle on Mar 18th, 2010 at 5:48pm Maybe Harper Collins will announce an "Exile" book with even more photos than the Super Deluxe version... ;) |

Maybe Dominique Tarlé will go back to Nellcote and take some 2010 photos, mix them in with his 1971 pics and hope no one notices the difference. |

Raise your hand if you viewed this in quadraphonic sound in 1974.
Hand raised! |

I will have to dust off my DVD of LGTRS...been about 2 years since last i watched it...
This IS good news...a refreshing air about it especially with all the troubles and pure fan speculations about these last 18 months or so...a sign, though maybe not a SURE sign, but certainly a sign that a 2012 / 50th might be a serious consideration what with the old catalogue doing a bit of preface footwork... Hey Gazza...please see my comments/quiries on the VooDoo DVD thread... |

It's like i'm dreaming and all my Stones dreams are coming true. Except the dream where i am late on-stage as 3rd guitarist because i am backstage with Marianne, a rug, some dope and a Mars bar.
But this is so great. L&G was the 1st VHS tape i ever owned. In fact, i owned the tape about 6 mths before we got our 1st vhs player! hahaha. Now, i didnt see this in 74, but i do remember seeing the ad for it when me and a mate went to the Capitol theatre in Swanston St to see "THe Towering Inferno". I knew who they were of course, but it didnt mean much to me. I have image of Mick's purple jumpsuit embedded in my then 10-11 year old brain. I'll get the blu-ray and i will cross fingers we get bonus stuff. There's some great footage around that should be included. There's a terrible unauthorised doco that gets repeated here in Oz on "Ovation" channel that feature Mick, in light blue jumpsuit (and a tiara i think!) triggering off the old flash pots by his own foot! Kindy risky, dont ya think? The stuff from MSG that i have seen was brilliant. Much more exciting than this film. Right until maybe the last song, you dont even see the audience. Anyway, to see Charlie's puffy sleeves in hi-def will be a treat. |
