In his in-depth chat with Ian Camfield, Gene Simmons challenged U2 and The Rolling Stones to a stadium-off. In a clearly combative mood, Kiss’s God Of Thunder wanted to show Bono, Jagger et al how to rock an enormodome.

“I would love to play on the same stage as U2, The Stones and anybody out there who considers themself a world champion.

Fact is they averaged less than 10K attendance at their NA shows last year...

Gene Simmons is a complete idiot, when he comes on T.V. on that stupid show of his, he's a fool, The Stones or U2 would never take KISS seriously, their only fans are kids collecting their Kiss dolls, Kiss lunch boxes, Kiss comic books, I think they make most of their money from merchandise, they never had a good song between them, they would be o.k. at a Halloweens costume party.

I used to LOVE KISS...yes, i was 13 at the time...and it was 30 years ago...but i have seen them many times over the last 20 years as well...

It's funny how some people think that just by associating themselves w/ bigger and better folks, that they seem to think others will follow..."Oh wow!! Maybe Kiss IS as big as U2 AND The Stones!!"

We all know what Simmons is about...this is just a PR move to get the name out there and a type of market defining.

Stadiums? It was only a few years ago that KISS was on the amphitheater tour w/ Aerosmith...Alternating opening slots...They were also the funniest thing in Superbowl halftime history in a REAL long time...

At least Paul Stanley can still sing his own songs and they don't need any additional musicians but both bands play too slow these days. Also from hearing the June 2007 recordings, I have my doubts about the Stones being able to follow anybody right now.

And we've already seen what happens when a band that just plays hard rock music (AC/DC) with full PA access opens for the Stones. It doesn't really matter how good Exile On Main Street or Let It Bleed is, they just can't hold up in that kind of situation.

No, Argent was around way before KISS, from that video it's '73, KISS didn't start to happen till '74, they opened for The New York Dolls in '74, the same night Bowie had his Diamond Dogs tour concert here in Toronto at O'keefe Centre.
