Title: Santana to cover "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" Post by Voodoo Chile In Wonderland on Feb 27th, 2010 at 1:38pm
Carlos Santana Working On Covers Album
2/27/2010 1:31 PM ET http://www.rttnews.com/ArticleView.aspx?Id=1224793&SMap=1 Thanks Mr Tambourine man at our message board in Spanish http://rocksoff.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=10120 (RTTNews) - Carlos Santana's next planned album will consist of covers of iconic songs. The album, which will be overseen by Sony Music chief Clive Davis, will include covers recorded with a wide range of artists. These include versions of Cream's "Sunshine of Your Love" (with Rob Thomas), the Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" (with India.Arie and Yo-Yo Ma) and Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing" (with Joe Cocker). There will also be a cover of the Rolling Stones' "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" (with Scott Weiland) and solo renditions of Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" and Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son". Santana said of the album: "We're not comparing or competing with those artists -- we're complementing them. But when you hear this, you're gonna do 'Damn!' because it sounds so powerful, with vitality and vibrancy. Like Wayne Shorter says, it's completely new, totally familiar." The album title or release date have not yet been disclosed. However, Santana is expected to tour in Europe and North America in the late spring and summer. by RTT Staff Writer |

Good choice with Scott Weiland. Let's just hope he shows up.

Sorry but this sounds lame. Santana's albums with newer acts just bore me. Whereas the blues albums he's done like the two he produced for John Lee Hooker were magic. If he did this song as one cover on a unique album it may be interesting but I don't see much difference between this and the shite that Rod Stewart puts out with covers of "iconic" 70s rock songs that was just embarassing. I know his guitar playing and the musicians that play with him and all that but these things just seem like the easiest way to get him to do what he loves which is tour. It's nice to see when legends try the more difficult way and put out something unique.
