Title: The Internet or TV
Post by platter on Feb 21st, 2010 at 5:55pm
just wondering how many of you prefer to spend your time watching tv or surfing the net?  tough call eh.

i like oprah and the price is right and emeril and deal or no deal and after the olympics minute to win it sounds great.  one of the tricks is you have to suck up an m and m in a straw and hold it and then run over to another balanced straw and drop it on it  if you do this within a minute you win a grand....i can't wait.   but i sure like the free music on you tube.

:wtf3

Well, I have about 150 channels on my basic digital cable, and I regularly watch maybe five of them. TV sucks.  :whydontcha

No kidding, I have all those channels too and spend about 90% of my tv time on Encore Westerns or TCM.  I love Paladin!

All the TV shows i watch...I watch online...on my schedule...though i did LOVE DVR when i had it...but basically...i watch them about 3-5 days after airing online...30 sec on commercials beats 3 min...and i just get up to grab a beer or take a biobreak anyway

There's some great films in youtube. Stuff from R. W. Fassbinder, from instance, that I couldn't watch elsewhere.  :interestingstuffronnie I recently saw "Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo García" (rated R)

That list proves that it isnt a tough call at all and is a good reason why I barely watch TV anymore.

Well, as we live in different countries, I'd imagine it's stuff you wouldnt be too familiar with, but without exception I'd avoid game shows, soaps and anything remotely connected to reality TV as if they were a dose of the clap. Which isn't easy, as they seem to be pretty hard to avoid.

Apart from some comedy shows (mostly reruns on satellite TV or else some of the quality American imports like Curb Your Enthusiasm), and specific sport or music programmes. I dont watch that much anymore. TV in general has absolutely gone down the shitter in the last few years.

The only thing I usually watch on TV is sports and news. Occasionally I'll channel surf. I'm a sucker for real life crime shows. Snapped on Oxygen is my favorite. Nothing like seeing crazy female serial killers. :wtf3

baseball, football, BBC news, Stewart and Colbert on Comedy Network, Weather Channel.....it's rare that there's anything else of quality on TV....good sitcoms seem largely a thing of the past....

I watch little-to-no television. The only programmes I watch with any kind of regularity are Match of the Day and the real football Saturday. I might flick through the channels and catch a music documentary on BBC4 or occasionally watch the comedies on UK Gold - I.E, Only Fools & Horses, Harry Enfield, etc. Gazza has basically hit the nail on the head though: there really isn't much worth watching on British television anymore.

I hardly ever watch TV. I certainly refuse to pay for it. I did find a cable on my floor of the place I moved into and plugged into the TV, get some extra channels. Other than a bit of King Of The Hill from time to time, I would say I watch a few hours a month tops.

Spend a lot of time online though.

I dont watch TV almost never as today. But the cartoons yes. I dont stand any form of reality shows or so.
and the talk shows. are unbearebles. I dont spend so much time on line too.
No more. I prefer just youtube, or see some good dvd's movies.

TV or not TV...that is the question.  ::)

I've OD'ed on the internet and don't spend nearly as much time online as I used to. Everyone keeps telling me to get on Facebook, but the thought of people I knew 20 years ago crawling out of the woodwork and tracking me down gives me the horrors.
I use TV to escape reality, basically, and watch only the movie channels.
