Keith's stomach is lookin mighty plump. It has been growing more and more it seems. His legs, arms, and face are basically unchanged.

With the reports of him suddenly giving up drinking .... do you think he is having some kind of liver problem?

Sure, alcoholics tend to develop a type of pop-belly but this is pretty sudden, and the guys been drinking for years. If the guy actually has been told to stop drinking by doctors recently, and with his apparent belly in recent pics ....I certainly hope Keith has not finally developed a liver disorder of some sort.

Dont honestly see what the fuss is. I think people analyse this stuff way too much at times.

Keith's had a paunch for a few years now. Hardly unusual for a man in his mid 60s who doesnt really look after his fitness - especially one who's wealthy, well-nourished and who hasn't worked for a long time.  Most recent photos I've seen of him he's looked better than he has done for some time. Compare how he looked at that awards ceremony he attended with Depp a couple of months ago to how he looked in those photos a year or so ago when he was pictured with another band (was it The Dirty Strangers? He looked like Methuselah).

It's funny how people have been able to accept his face ageing dramatically in the last two decades, but then suddenly get alarmed because he puts on a bit of weight. The 'heroin chic' look would be pretty ludicrous for a man of that age.

I think those two by themselves are valid enough reasons, to be honest. There could be several others, including what you're implying, but not putting enough time aside to make a new record, and deciding that a 2011-2012 tour to take them up to the 50th anniversary instead of a 2010-2012 may well be more feasible considering their ages, health and individual wishes may be even more significant.

I agree with Gazza, a man in his 60's (who's not Mick Jagger) putting on a pot belly is not surprising, that usually happens to men in their 40's, especially since he doesn't exercise (I have a bit of trouble picturing Keith joining a Gym & working out every day)

My take on this: Keef's been looking pretty healthy in the pictures of the past few months, better in fact than he has in a long, long time. If he would have liver problems, he would look like he did during the European Tour of 07. So I'm not worried about that. I just hope he's still up to playing the guitar for 2 hours. He fucked up quite a few shows during the last tour, so that's something we'll have to find out when/if the Stones hit the road once more.

Seems like his face would be yellowish or something if he had severe liver problems.....I'm not sayin' his liver is in great shape... ::) ;), but I think he looks better now than he did awhile back...:)

If Keith had the kind of liver problems you're talking about, he wouldn't have a yellow hue to his skin, but he would certainly be retaining water in his legs and feet, which he obviously isn't.

He's had that belly for years. When they tour, he seems to work it off, but when they're between tours, he develops a  paunch. As was pointed out by others, it's very common for men over 40 (not to mention a man in his sixties) to get a bit of a pot belly.

What makes me wonder is he's gone on record as saying he's had Hepatitis and cured himself. I'd love to know how he managed that.

I remember reading that article in a magazine, GTRM, and at the time I got the impression that Keith was saying all his doctors were scratching their heads not understanding how the hepatitis could have just vanished, but some people are blessed with immune-systems capable of totally eradicating a virus, I remember reading about the prostitutes in Africa who, although testing positive to the exposure of HIV virus, didn't have any active virus anywhere in their bodies and were perfectly healthy although people sleeping with them were dropping like flies, and HIV is a FAR more sophisticated virus than Hepatitis. It's just one of those things that happens in the long-term evolution of viruses and humans (host versus "parasite" warfare), there's always a few humans who will develop the ability to escape a lethal virus, it's just long-term biological adaptation.

He’s got an old mans paunch. He probably doesn’t eat of drink anymore than he did 30 years ago, but when you reach a certain age – and you don’t alter the way you look after your body – things can alter: in Keith’s case, they have. Mick is slim and toned because he takes a little care.

:smilestu As Keith use to say he could go to the toilet fix up and still beat Jagger in another game of tennis. He comes from good stock...relax everyone...when his number is up..its up. Enjoy the music.

Wow hadn't heard that tennis story for years, possibly 1982 in a crappy quote compilation book I got at the local newspaper shop...that must have just been Keith bragging though, hard to imagine him playing tennis.

I didn't want to post it as if I was the first one to bring the photo to the board because I figured everyone already saw it. As well I didn't want to re-post in a sense. I simply figured all of us knew exactly what photos I was talking about. Indeed these are the photos I was talking about in which Keith's belly looked "way big".
