Yes Starbuck but there's something here that aggravates the situation: Haití is a very poor country, isolated with few infraestructure and health system

I already donated! I work for an international company, Century 21 Real Estate and they are doing alot to help out financially. The offices are pooling the money together, so its a nice big chunk of change! I always worry that the money wont go to the right people but I trust my company. You gotta be careful who you donate money to, scams are everywhere! I feel sorry for the pain and suffering of the poor people of Haiti. They have a long hard road ahead.

red cross and doctors without borders both are legit, just give directly to them. I didn't see Mick on LK show, I hope he did us proud. He's definitely not on the side that thinks the devil made this happen, if you know what I mean. I wish we had more ti give.

Would some explain to me what the President of Haiti is doing and how come his police force is out of control:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1244660/Haiti-earthquake-Schoolgirl-looter-Fabienne-Geismar-killed-bullet-head.html They are stealing to sell stuff to BUY FOOD and to pay the $20 to get on a bus out of there. They are in a desperate situation. The food distribution needs to start spreading out and they need buckets to filter their water. There were 60,000 PUR water purification tablets for 5 gallons being distributed by CARE but they need buckets to filter the water and remove germs. |

Its too bad those HOPE FOR HAITI concerts are closed to the public. They could of sold tickets to raise money, and I'm sure it would of been a sell out in the NY & LA markets! Why didnt someone think of that? Many fans would of easily bought tickets and the ticket sales could of been substantial!

Haiti Benefit Recording Taking Shape
Posted on Friday January 22, 2010 at 10:01 AM Add | .Simon Cowell announced earlier this week that he will produce a star-laden single to benefit Haiti’s earthquake victims. At that time he didn’t know who would appear on the record nor which song would be recorded. But that was then. Now he has some details. The recording will be a cover version of R.E.M.’s 1993 song “Everbody Hurts.” At this time London’s Sun newspaper is reporting that Rod Stewart, Leona Lewis, Michael Bublé and boy band JLS have signed on and that Cowell is waiting for replies from Paul McCartney, Coldplay, Take That and Robbie Williams. According to the Sun, which is also behind the recording as part of its “Helping Haiti” effort, R.E.M. is “deeply touched” that the song is being used to help Haitians recover from the devastating earthquake that struck the poverty-stricken country last week. “It means a lot that the song the guys wrote all those years ago will be used for such an important appeal,” R.E.M. manager Bertis Downs told the Sun, adding that the band will forego all royalties for the recording. Less than 48 hours ago, Cowell told the press that British Prime Minister Gordon Brown asked him to produce a benefit recording to help raise money for Haiti. Cowell said at the time that he’d have a record out within 10 days and that the British government might exclude the single from any taxes. “We are all working hard to make this single a success and to raise lots of money for ‘Helping Haiti,’” Cowell said. “We have a short time to do this and the people in Haiti need as much help as we can give them as soon as possible.” |
