Title: Q about "She Was Hot".
Post by Egon on Jan 18th, 2010 at 5:04am
Downloaded this song a while ago while looking for rare stuff of the stones.
the uploader gave it the title "she was HOTTER", so i was curious.

turns out to be taped from the radio when it had it's world premier.

but it's not the usual version. right in the beginning it has an extra verse:

there goes the telephone,
suddenly i feel at home (?),
and there's a sweet voice on the line.

and it ends with a very long instrumentral outro. (guitar & keyboard driven)

Who knows what i'm talking about & does anyone have this version....?
I'd really like to have a proper copy of it!

I think most of the versions on bootlegs include the radio voice over or else they have it clipped at the start of the song so that the voice over (and therefore a few bars of the intro) are excluded.

The promo video of the song also includes the extra verse, but from memory I dont think the ending is any longer.

i love the outro, but the quality is extremely crappy

I know what you're talking about. I had the same version on my ipod - stolen! The outro was really interesting. Quite a jam. I wanna hear it now.

I have a version which was premiered on a New York City radio
station.  It sounds like the same version you speak of Egon.

the video version was a different mix and had some extra guitar work, if I recall correctly... maybe some extra lyrics too....

Definitely different lyrics in the video - www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwRLy_nD7mg

Love the 'Off The Hook' outro...

crappy quality indeed but that driving outro is absolutely great.
I wish there was a proper recording existant and I've asked about it some years ago - but nope, it's MIA.
someone in the US should call the radio station "WYSP", if it still exists.

I bet some guy who worked at that station still has the original copy stashed away in their collection.

Well they included a song on 'Rarities' that had featured on a still-available CD which had sold 3.5 million copies, so if thats any yardstick, they'd probably replace it at the last minute with the 'Tattoo You' version of 'Start Me Up' or something.
