Grunge heavyweight Soundgarden will reunite in 2010 after 12 years apart, Chris Cornell announced via Twitter tonight at the stroke of midnight on the East Coast, confirming increasingly persistent rumors the band would reform — perhaps to headline the Coachella festival.
Cornell’s tweet reads: “The 12 year break is over & school is back in session.

Questions:
New album?
Is Matt Cameron is onboard?
Are they playing Coachella?
Will this push The Stones to step it up...? lol!

Too bad he can't sing anymore. I would rather have my memories than another reunion. Especially since the last album wasn't even that good.

CC had some fantastic vocals back in the day but word is he struggles now.

Soundgarden takes me back to some great times, yes indeed...

Some things can't be revisited.

I look at Alice In Chains reuniting with William Duvall on vocals, and they're just a pale shadow of the original AIC. I have seen the original AIC, and the "new" AIC.

RIP Layne Staley.... You were an awesome talent, and you're sorely missed.

i saw SG in 1988 and they blew the lid off the i-beam in SF... i've never seen them again, and doubt they could ever sound like that again, they were hungry and the show cost $5, with 3 bands on the bill... one of the other bands was mudhoney...

Anyway, fuck 'em. I adored them. IN fact, i was the 1st person in Melbourne to have "Louder than love". Guy at the record shop told me that. But, Kim Thayall bagged the Stones. So fuck 'em.

I didnt mind Audioslave. Some songs were great. But once Cornell did a James Bond theme, man, that was it.

For all their indie bullshit, it's still about money.

Audioslave I liked. The last album they made ("Revelations") was very funky and Timmy C played some great licks.

Cornell is one of my favorite vocalists, too. Ya know, his last album wasn't THAT bad. It was better than that crap he released before it ("Carry On").

saw them in 05 certainly they are all great players but compared to the last RATM show i saw in 99 they were like the firm or bad company comapared to zep............

Chris Cornell performed at the Pinkpop Festival. It wasn't all that. Soundgarden was great in the 90's. If they show up at some festivals - it's what Faith No More did in Europe last summer - I'll probably end up seeing a gig, and I'm sure I'll be having some fun.
