A weekend trip for me and my wife to Texel, one of the Dutch islands in the Wadden Sea. The most beautiful place in the country IMO. Great chance of seeing rare wildlife: I saw a humpback whale making a dive during one of the beach hikes there earlier this year. Almost impossible over here..almost.

Great thread FG, I'm happy like a five year old in a kindergarten yard when I talk about what I got  :aimama

I went on a shopping spree on Amazon, lol  ;D

Books: Jown Fowles' "The Magus" which I've been meaning to read for years, a Heath Ledger bio and Jeff Kinney's 4th instalment of "Wimpy Kid" which I highly recommend to all, the humor is out of this world good.

Music: Tracker's soundtrack for the "Blankets" graphic novel, Brett Anderson's "Slow Attack" and a DVD of Depeche Mode's Exciter tour as a fix for my DM addiction  :D

No Stones stuff this year  :o

Hi FotiniD!,

I was just informed that in about 2002 Brittany Murphy was in a movie "Spun" with Mickey Rourke and Eric Roberts (Julia's talented older brother).  BM played a drug addict.  The movie went straight to dvd....

Btw, Mickey Rourke and Eric Roberts were in "The Pope of Greenwich Village" together.  ;)

An all-time favorite of mine.  Set mostly in Greece, of course.  One of those books you have to read more than once -- there are surprises around every corner!

Hi FG!

Yep, I bought his solo album upon its release and I absolutely love it – very electro, very modern and very, very, cool.

I caught him last Tuesday at the HMV Forum, Kentish Town – same venue where Keith and the Wino’s performed in ’92. He was moody and magnificent and dressed in leather. In fact, the lighting was so dark, that it was hard to make him out – and I was near the front! He performed Phrazes For The Young in its entirety, plus a Christmas song – cannot remember which one – at the very end. The audience lapped him up and it was a very good evening: I think you are in for a treat.

From what I gather, we can expect plenty of Strokes activity in 2010!

On a different note: I stumbled across this here video on youtube – it dates from 2002 and is the first filmed Libertines interview. It’s nice to see Pete so fresh faced, awake and coherent!

Merry Xmas and a happy new year to you, too  :)

Our family stopped buying into the commercialism of Christmas years ago, with the exception of the little children. Instead we donate to charities in lieu of giving presents.

I usually give directly to the homeless people I see picking cigarette butts off the sidewalk(I give them a carton of cigarettes) or going through the garbage. (I'll give them food or cash). I've been doing this since the days I use to drive a cab in NYC, back in the 80's.

Merry Christmas to all you fine folks! Wishing health and happiness to all.

I sacrificed the car starter for the QP here in D*****k, still in the snow zone.

We've probably been to the same Rich Stadium shows, 1970s-1980s, and maybe B2B Sept. 97.  Merry Christmas.

BJ's is open under new management, and is a shell of its old shelf.  If any young people hanging now ever remember it, their numbers will be few.  The food was blah last time I had it, don't know if the kitchen's still open.

Folks,

I these tough economic times, how many utilized thriftshops in their Xmas shopping?   My local thrift store mass-mailed out coupons in time for Xmas, and I have to admit I made use of them.   ;)

I did pretty well...a black suede jacket in good condtion free, and almost new cowboy boots for $2.  My philosophy is--they're NEW to me.    I think in these times..it pays to be resourceful.

Merry Christmas my friends!  :booze
