One of the more interesting characters in Bill German's excellent book is "JC". For some reason his real name never gets mentioned...we first get introduced to him when he waq asking people to give him a Walkman in 1981 to get tickets! Then he "forgets" to put Bill on the list at a club show in 89 (?), and grumbles when Ron asks him to make a VIP Laminate for Bill in 1989.

I had searched Google for JC, but it's only today when I found my old 1990 Tour Program that I confirmed he was in fact James Callaghan whom I'd seen outside the Olympia in Paris in 1995 picking people who could come in without the bracelet/ticket...then I was him again in the Voodoo Lounge video game !

Bill German does inform us at the end of his book that JC got booted in 2003 in Germany after some illegal activits without giving any real details.

Thanks to having found his name, I found :

2. April 2003 : Jim Callaghan rushed to hospital in India after massive heart attack

Not a very good year for JC, but I'm suprised he recovered so quickly from a "massive heart attack" only to be caught red handed a few months later?

Anyone know what happened to him since?

PS - been looking or a picture of him on the net for 30+ minutes and no luck!

I'd a few very pleasant encounters with him during the Voodoo Lounge tour (Considering the amount of hangers on he must encounter, I was pretty amazed after meeting him in Paris that he remembered me when we met again in Amsterdam two months later). I guess it was because we discovered he comes from the same part of Ireland as my mum.

I asked him what happened when Bob and the Stones tour at the same time - he said he takes the Stones' job because 'they pay more'..... [smiley=cheesy.gif]

He was let go by the Stones after an investigation into tickets being re-sold to touts/scalpers was traced back to him.

So I guess he never came back from the "suspension" mentioned in that article then...they went back a long way (more than 1990 as per that article, or maybe that's when he became head of security) as he was apparently Keith's bodyguard back in 1975 and was involved in that famous "incident" when Freddy took one for the team : http://users.aristotle.net/~russjohn/history/stones.html
