Title: What have you listen or see of the Stones, today? Post by Lantern_High on Dec 9th, 2009 at 8:24am
After I've read about all the Altamont's tragedy and worst rock history's day, posts, and those about the Meredith's sister, I wanted re-see Gimmie Shelter again just finish now.
1 The Mick's last look without a word of comment at the end, says all. 2 Hearing the song fading away at the end, when the crowd has gonna the day after in the pale dawn, it's got me on an endeless sadness. If this wanted be their triumph of that '69 tour.. they'd fail. And anyone of them hadnt talk a lot many years later neither about it. 'Altamont brought the cold, sharp reality of the Devil, black magic world uncomfortably into focus, for there Mick's song and vocalizing were no longer mere fun. For many, that day, the song was cold, stark reality. Altamont in rock history stands as an apocalyse, where everything falls apart and society cannot cope with its own neuroses. A few of Mick's lyrics, such as Gimmie Shelter, continue the general feeling of hopelessness.' |

Yeah, I saw that movie so many times, & the last look that Mick gave & then the song playing with the crowd leaving, what also brings to mind was at that same time Charles Manson & his followers were killing all those people which was in the headlines later on, & what I couldn't understand was how they were listening to the Beatles white album for inspiration for the killings, where Gimme Shelter lyrics were spelling out what they were doing.

Exactly & very correct what you say Heart. I too cant understand at all ditto the two different situations.
I cant remember which songs are on the White Album, tight now, sorry. if not I could, maybe, understand better. |

I just got the 9DVD set from Time-Life, The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 25th Anniversary...I had forgotten that Mick gave the induction speech the year The Beatles were inducted...the boxset contains tons of great speeches, jams and rehearsal footage...the amount of stars on stage during some of those 80's ceremonies is mind blowing!:)

It wasnt about me the right song Mick could performs. But all the rest is great, the footage pretty bad, poor. |

I do love the color prussian blue it turns me on I would think that it would be a LUCKY color for men to wear especially while brandishing a guitar. now. imagine a man arriving at your house wearing prussian blue and carrying a box of peaches. I'm listening to the 1989 Atlantic City show with Axl Rose and John Lee Hooker Boogie Chillin. 27 song setlist. Bitch at the #2 spot! Salt of the Earth, MICK comments they never played this song live before. Rock & Roll Circus doesnt count? Maybe MICK forgot about that! Terrifying. Harlem Shuffle. Little Red Rooster. 2000 Lightyears from Home. Great bootleg ~ thanks to whoever gave me that 3 cd-set ~ It's awesome! 1-2-1234- Cant Be Seen. I just cant be seen with you. oh your married anyway. Mick's memory is usually hopeless, but he's sort of right on this occasion. They didnt play it 'live' at R n Roll Circus. The vocals were live, but they sang it over a pre-reccorded backing track. (the rest of the show was live, of course) They did 3 shows in Atlantic City in '89. The 2nd night was the broadcast - the versions they played over those 3 shows were the first occasions the song was played. |

I went to all of those AC shows. They were sooooo good. Top priced ticket was a then unheard of $200. Those tickets apparently didn't move as well as Donald Trump might've hoped. Remember sitting on the floor a row behind a "high roller" and his mink clad wife at one of the shows. She asked how much we paid for tickets - $38.50 She started berating her old man, who gave us the skunk eye for the rest of the night. Guess they paid $200... 'Salt Of The Earth' was great, but 'Boogie Chillen' was better. And liftoff was achieved the night Clapton sat in. 'Boogie Chillen' with EC - www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgCpNqKyzgE |

Gazzapedia strikes again! I didnt realize R&R Circus was not actually a "live" performance! It seemed live to me....maybe I better give that DVD another play! I usually play that when my kids have friends over the house, as an 'educational' music history lesson. Seeing is believing on how the old rock legends looked and sounded when they were young and beautiful!
