Iggy Pop Accepts Living Legend Award, Talks Stooges Tour
I had never heard of the Classic Rock Roll of Honour Awards before recently, but you put Stooge Iggy Pop on the bill and before you know it Queen’s Brian May, Slash, Ronnie Wood, Pete Townshend, and a host of other rock stars will show up. That’s what happened at the ‘09 Honour Awards, reports Music-News. “It’s been a long dinner, so I’m not gonna whip out my dick,” Iggy Pop said while accepting his Living Legend award. “Alright, you know, thank you to everybody who has strong feelings about music so that when you hear something you don’t like you wanna fucking kill somebody and when you hear something you like you wanna fuck everybody.” Now that’s an acceptance speech! Be sure to check out this awesome photo set of Iggy with his new golden statue. Iggy may be 62 years old, but he won’t be retiring anytime soon, as the upcoming Stooges with James Williamson gig at London’s All Tomorrow’s Parties won’t be the only show on the way from the original Raw Power lineup. “We’re going to be doing a one-off show in Brazil in a few weeks,” Pop told BBC, “but the real touring starts next year.” Between the two confirmed upcoming Iggy and the Stooges shows, said “real touring,” and that rumored Coachella slot, it looks like Leonard Cohen isn’t the only living legend plotting a 2010 takeover. . IGGY POP FINDS 'LOST' STOOGES MATERIAL
Iggy Pop has revealed plans to record a host of 'lost' Stooges material from the band's 1970s heyday. Iggy Pop is to record a host of 'lost' Stooges songs. The legendary singer has recently reconciled with Iggy and the Stooges guitarist James Williamson and the pair are keen to record songs they wrote together in the early 70s but never got the opportunity to record. Iggy told BANG showbiz: "James Williamson is really hot to trot and there's a lot of old stuff that The Stooges failed to record. We wrote a load of songs that we only ever played live, so I'm looking forward to doing some studio recordings." He also said the group, who had previously played with original guitarist Ron Asheton until his death last year, will embark on full scale touring next year. Iggy, 62, was last week given the Living Legend award at the Marshall Classic Rock Roll of Honour awards in London, where he admitted he is now part of the 'classic' rock genre. He said: "I snuck in first, it started about ten years ago, and The Stooges are knocking on the door now. They're putting us in in-flight magazines and what have you, so we kinda bum rushed the thing and, I guess, here we are." 09 November 2009 05:45:15 AM Link: http://www.contactmusic.com/news.nsf/story/iggy-pop-finds-lost-stooges-material_1121711 |

Thanks GTRM, my God! that guy sure is in great shape, people who go to the Gym (I'm not one of them) would kill for a body like that, & he's in his 60's.
