Title: New Tour is coming...?
Post by SemiahmooDude on Nov 2nd, 2009 at 4:59pm
With both Keith and Mick out in the spotlight of late, it would appear the PR machine is gearing back up for an upcoming tour.

One last time...

I haven't seen any indicators other than wishful thinking.

I beg to differ:

"Ronnie Wood has hinted 2010 might see the Rolling Stones back out on the road.

Speaking to the BBC's 6 Music at the Classic Rock Awards on Monday (Nov. 2) -- where Wood picked up an award for his contribution to rock -- the guitarist said relations between all the members of the veteran rock band are good.

He said, "It's all very good. I saw Mick [Jagger] and Charlie [Watts] last week. Everything is great."

When he wanted to return to live shows, Wood replied: "Yeah, well I just did that with The Faces, but I'm ready to rock." And as for the Stones back on tour in 2010? "Let's hope so, yeah."

Wood was given the music magazine's Outstanding Contribution award to honour his "ageless presence on the scene" and admitted it was the first time he had been given an award on his own merit.

"It means a lot," he said. "It's about time - I've never had one just for myself."

I dont see that those two occasions by themselves mean anything significant, but as Keith, Ronnie and Charlie have all alluded to a Stones tour in 2010 in recent weeks (plus the Stones press spokesman when denying the story that Charlie had left the band), I think its a pretty safe bet.

Wishful thinking?

Nah - the Stones publicists set up these award show appearances to coincide with something more significant that is upcoming.

An 2010-2011 Tour is gearing up folks...

I don't think the Stones will tour again. I'm gonna quit drinking, Voo will not chase ladies no more, Gazza will go fuck himself, Meg will marry Stray cat, LJ will tea bag with LL Cool J, Nanky will become a priest, Mr. Lawyer will move to Minnasota, Joey will marry Paris (with him sending me undies). We got one more baby....................................lets rock n roll.

ROLLING STONES TO TOUR IN 2010?Veteran rockers Rolling Stones may take to the road and tour next year.

Rolling Stones may be about to tour again.

Ronnie Wood confirmed he had been in touch with band members Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts just last week and everything was "great" - hinting the group could hit the road again soon.

He added that he was confident the band could do a follow up tour to 2007's Bigger Bang.

Earlier this week Ronnie picked up the Outstanding Contribution award at the Marshall Classic Rock Roll of Honour awards.

Speaking about a reunion with his other band Faces, he said: "Well, we just had one, and there will definitely be more."

Commenting on rock stars wearing makeup, Ronnie said: "It's like Kiss - they're people you don't recognize in the street, then they take makeup off, I've always worn it, but I've not got any on tonight."

The rocker was at the event with his 20-year-old Russian girlfriend Ekaterina Ivanova.

There are yet to be any dates confirmed for either a Faces or Rolling Stones tour.

A good marketing gimmick would be to call it. The "(This Could be) The Last Time Tour). With Mick & Keith giving their usual evavsive answers to the question. But it could sell some tickets and T-Shirts. :whatapostronnie

Well, the press have talked up every tour as 'the last one' since about 1969, so nothings changed there - however, I think its pretty safe to imagine that if the Stones were to embark on a 18 month-2 year trot around the globe in 2010, its unlikely that some time around 2014-2015 they're going to do something similar all over again.

From what I've been led to believe, plans for next year seem to change pretty frequently, but I think we can reasonably expect the Stones to be on the road - in North America - sometime BEFORE this time next year. I'd imagine it'd be on the usual lines. Tour starting late summer/early autumn with a 'product' released around the same time.

They HAVE looked into booking some kind of 'event' in Prospect Park in Brooklyn for May 2010, but obviously its too early to say whether that would be the location for some kind of tour announcement - its quite possible that its just one of a few possible locations for such an event and the only one where the information has 'leaked'.

Well actually I know someone who works in the new Yankee Stadium and Cohl was there discussing available dates, but that was months ago. Yankee's rule! OK, to be the first concert played at the new field would be another milestone for the Stones, and it isnt far from the Brooklyn Bridge either. Could possibly be the tour opener?

Yankee Stadium's even closer to the GW Bridge.

Not sure what the proximity to any bridge means, though...

Truthfully, wouldn't be interested in seeing them in any stadium.

More stadiums = more greatest hits setlists.

Being a Stones lifer with no chance of parole, I'll still go and see them of course, but if its another round of warhorse-fest stadium shows put together with the sole motivation of trying to outgross U2, then its a final opportunity to reinvent themselves missed and makes my decision to just see maybe 4 shows (instead of 13 on each of the last 2 tours)  and not travel too far to see any future shows a much easier one.

At this stage its a bit like following your favourite football team.

You feel used and ripped off by spiralling prices, you get pissed off at the way it's run by people who you feel dont get the passion that you have and who are more concerned with big business than the ordinary fan, you feel that some of the team are getting on a bit and are more detached from the supporters than ever, you get frustrated at declining standards and occasional lack of form compared to what you were used to before - but in spite of it all, you still manage to get a kick out of it on the nights when it all goes well and its a good excuse to hang out with your friends.

And after so many decades, it's simply too late to stop now. It's in the blood and is something that non-believers just can't grasp.

I prefer stadiums only because tickets won't cost an average of $220. I am probably not going to have a grand or so to blow on this tour.

And the U2 record. or even an ABB record, is going to be tough to beat.

Also agree with Gazza but 3 shows sounds light, so I'll go with 6: NY, NJ, PA, Boston, Vegas and London. If multiple NY, NJ and PA shows than I'll do 2 in some cities so I'm up to 10. Add 2 more 'special shows' to make it an even dozen. That's the number ~ 12 shows for me. Would prefer theatres, yeah right, then arenas, and last choice are the stadiums. I'm getting too old to stand outside gertting soaked in the rain, bake in the hot sun, or freeze my ass off, depending on the weather! THE STONES are getting too old for it too, they have to stay in good health. This could be the last time, baby the last time but I dont know, oh no, OH NO!

Good to see you posting here - thanks for contributing.

Pretty much after every one of the last few tours we've assumed they wouldnt do any more 'big' tours but would scale things down. So far, theyve been unable to do that. The Stones dont seem to be able to motivate themselves to exist outside of the confines of a mega-tour - the last time they played a concert when not on tour was a brief 45-minute set at Keith's two CNIB benefits in 1979.

I still enjoy seeing them in any venue, but stadium shows are generally overpriced and the setlists 'dumbed down' for the benefit of the amount of 'box ticking' casual fans that they feel they need to attract to be able to fill the venue when charging those kind of prices. The appeal of that kind of lowest common denominator 'event' diminishes with each successive year. And pyrotechnics and fancy stages mean absolutely nothing to me, personally. It's all about the substance, and not the spectacle - but each to their own.

you want the same set list ... go see AC/DC every night ... the Stones will offer a first class show near the Top of the current market price range ... that was $6.50 in 1969 ... today a wee bit more ... they will not have Penis Envy about the Claw ... and we will see a fucking fantastic Performance ... light + multi media presentation in halls of 20,000 and under ... take it to the Bank or should I say out of it ... long live the Rolling Stones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
