Post by LadyJane on Oct 7th, 2009 at 7:12am
Interesting..........................at least she is using color.

She looks good here. By golly, I think she's growing on me. Seems to handle Jagger perfectly; and is a success in her own right. Plus he's happy.

I like it - elegantly,
sometimes - with a little bit of humour,
and many of these dresses are suitable for real life - not only for fashion show :)

It looks like the hat and scarf in the last outfit had a Goat's Head Soup influence.

I like both the white dress and white slacks with coat.
Not bad at all.

HOWEVER...MICK BETTER NOT GET ANY IDEAS ABOUT MODIFYING THIS FOR "SYMPATHY":

LJ.

ps...AS I HIT "POST" SFTD CAME ON MY RADIO! OH WELL IF IT WILL BRING ME A TOUR, HAVE AT IT MICK. THE FEATHERS IN BRIGHT RED WILL BE FINE.

I'm not much of a dress-wearer, but I like this one. I have something similar in light clingy wool with long sleeves, but I haven't worn it in years.

I like it too, it's lovely, GTRM! Looking at the material, however, gives me the impression it will show up every bump, so may only be suiting women who are extremely thin, a bit like the coat-hangers modelling them.....What do you think the models are thinking, the facial expressions are so dead-pan, is it "I could kill a hamburger and fries!"?

Well done, LJ, you have started a "fashion-corner" on RO!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL! Will we make it to page 300???

In any case, I bet starbuck won't start a poll called " What shall we do with the fashion thread?"

Thank you Jo.
I doubt we'll have to deal with any acrimony in this thread!!!!

I say we should all go on starvation diets and waltz into next Tour sporting L'Wren Scott creations.
After said diet, breast reduction, various lifts, etc, I will happily sport this:

Yeah L'Wren is growing on me too, and I like the fashion show, not that I can afford to buy any of it! I was checking out her website and everything is a few thousand $$$$ so she targets the movie stars and the rich.

lol! You forgot to mention the multiple rib removal....

If I actually had to choose just one, I'd go for the white dress with the flower over the left breast side, it's cute...and all the clothes look feminine and elegant, I guess it's a "well done!"...

I don't particularly like L'Wren's work, but I do like her.

Since this is fashion corner, shall we take a look at Ronnie Wood's collection for Liberty of London?
His stuff isn't quite at pricey as L'Wren's, but it's expensive (£500 for the dresses and £195 for shirts
but they are already being marked down).

Thank you Lantern Ruby!

I’m sure that Lady Jane was joking! To be quite honest, I would personally NEVER consider having an elective surgery procedure (any operation that isn't strictly necessary to save my life), like for example a nose-job or a face-lift or a liposuction, or, or...

I find it positively puzzling WHAT makes some women go through with them! Perhaps my attitude comes from using anaesthetic substances on a daily basis (on animals, not people), and occasionally “ killing them” (they simply don’t wake up). You get very complacent because 99.9% of the time things work well, but when I occasionally have an owner curling up in foetal position on my consulting room floor and sobbing his/her little heart out, I feel awful and it brings home the fact that you simply never have a 100% guarantee of waking up again, and that there simply is a statistical risk of dying during anaesthesia, no matter how much medical information and family history you give to the anaesthetist. The other reason I wouldn’t do it, is because I’m quite happy with myself the way I am, and I guess that’s down to age. At 52 I’m a lot less harsh to and critical of myself than I was when I was 20, and I simply think that women will always have a part (or several) of their anatomy they aren’t so keen on, but if you look at Marianne Faithful, for example, who has aged naturally, you kinda think “wow! Isn’t she beautiful?” Ok, so she has flabby underarms and a creased face, but I think she has rightfully earned every facial line, and where exactly is it written that you should look like 20 when you’re 60? It’s natural to lose collagen and to get wrinkly, why not accept it? As long as you’re healthy and have a happy life, who gives a damn about fading looks? I guess it’s different if you’re a model or an actress and make a living from the way you look, it must be difficult to say “no” to the collective pressure.

So, in short, girls, we will have to ask L’Wren to change her sizing! ;-)

Ooooh, thanks for posting these, SV!

I like some of the things, but I have to confess that I generally don’t rate Ronnie very highly as an artist. I would NEVER buy any of his paintings, because I find them very crude and I’d refuse to live with one of them in my house. Of all the stuff of his I’ve seen over the years, the only painting  I ever liked was a tryptich someone commissioned a few years ago (3 painting stuck together, a bit like a “Russian icon”), in which he painted all sorts of people (I remember Jerry Hall sitting for him). Was it for a restaurant in London? The Royal Academy?  For the life of me I can’t remember, perhaps Gazza does… Anyway, that was the only painting I found remotely interesting. I strongly believe he wouldn’t sell any paintings at all if he wasn’t a member of the Rolling Stones and a celebrity. Having said all that, it’s a harmless enough hobby and I only wish him good luck, it’s just not my personal cup of tea!

I like how he uses colour and shapes for the dresses and the t-shirts, but then again, I would not pay that price for any of them.

Forgot to say that what I really like about all the dresses is the CUT, they are all very figure-hugging yet feminine, and the dress stopping just below the knees is extremely flattering. They remind me of the old Chanel dresses...

Don't know about the silly coat, though, I guess only Mick Jagger could carry it off... :aimama

Meanwhile, Ralph Lauren released this laughable photoshopped pic of a skinny model
who evidently wasn't quite skinny enough. So they stretched parts of her using Photoshop
until her arms and legs look like sticks and her head is nearly the size of her torso.

Great message to send young women. Wonderful look to which they can aspire.  >:(

God, just think what people during the Renaissance would have thought of the poor girl, she looks like a total freak of nature, reminds me of those weird deformed mirrors in old amusement arcades that make you either look 3 feet high and fat or 9 feet high and skinny, would be funny, if there wasn't the really serious aspect of young girls not eating or puking everything back to attain such a figure....

Very strange , all these beauty fetishes... Fashion designers use girls who look like stick-insects because they say that they make their clothes look good. Ok. That must be why they adapted their sizes and shrunk and shrunk them over the years to make women believe they are getting smaller.
Talking about jeans sizes, I'm a size 8 at Next (aimed at youngish women), a size 10 at Marks& Spencers (aims more towards youngish-to-middleaged), a size 12 at Jack Wills (aimed at teenagers), a size 4 or 6 at GAP (what am I? 8 years old? are American clothes designers nuts?), a 38-40 in France, and a normal size 30 " waist for Levi's, if they are the low-slung ones that just sit on the hip, then probably a 32". If I wasn't the age I am and actually still gave a shit, it would freak me out.

And the global obsession with being a size zero hasn't always been like this, and isn't necessarily like this all over the world. Someone from Morocco once told me that in a lot of small villages, men like quite ample ladies. When a young bride gets ready to get married, she actually gets fattened up like a Thanksgiving turkey. She is taken away into a special bridal hut and lays on her back most of the day while she is being fed uninterrupted all day long and her skin is massaged , and allegedly she even gets oil enemas to increase the body's caloric intake and her weight gain. Go figure!

Oil enema, anyone? :aimama

Funny!  I thought men these days like a little meat on the bone.  I know that as I've aged, I like my women a little thicker.  Oil enema sounds a bit greasy, but i'd take as many massages as possible.

Well, I stand corrected, LJ   [smiley=wink.gif]

Sorry about not looking in any earlier, it is always soooooooooooooooo annoying when work
takes me away from the really important things in life, like fashion.....

I really like this advert (especially the hudson videos), shame about the prices, as I wouldn't make a habit of paying 180£ for a pair of jeans. When I see girls like her with their beautiful bodies (I guess we were all pretty much like that at 17?) I think how unfair life is. When you're young and gorgeous you're not aware of it and very insecure, and when you grow old enough to finally know the power of your equipment, the equipment starts malfunctioning and sagging...soooooo unfair......

Wow! Is it my imagination, or is this girl in a different class from her sister Lizzie? I can't remember if she was equally successful at that age, but it may just be my dreadful memory........

She's certainly "different" enough to really make it in the fashion world. Can't say I envy her, though, it must be very demoralising
to always move within a world in which you get constantly judged and possibly rejected by your looks, where WHO you really are doesn't matter...

No need to thank us Lantern. I'm thrilled to see this thread getting some action!!!
With no Stones news and the venomous Political thread, we are desperate for something new, different and NOT nasty.

Men are welcome too!!!!

I think Georgia is gorgeous and I'm not at all bothered by her age but couldn't Testino have asked for some variety of poses?? Then again, based on these shots from the May '09 issue of Russian vogue, it appears Miss Jagger has ONE look and ONE only!

She has the vacuous look down to a "T". Doubt she had to work very hard on getting it just right, with those Jerry Hall genes.

Funny, how men like the Stones all paired up with women in that "vacuous" profession. Although Charlie's wife is more "real" I suppose...

After looking at Beyonce's dresses: the green one is lovely. The one she is wearing at the Oscars I like less, it makes her look oddly shaped, considering she is so statuesque. I think that the one in the middle makes her look like she just got chosen for the leading role for the X-rated adult version of the children's movie "James and the Giant Peach"...

Jewelry certainly qualifies as fashion, no?

Over the past 30 years Keith Richards silver skull ring has taken on its own mythology and iconic status. The most famous ring in the world has come to signify not only Keith Richards the man - seen wearing it at every gig and in every photograph - but Rock and Roll itself. The ring has inspired both an international cult following and unlimited fake copies. There have been countless claims as to who designed and made the original but this is the true story.
In 1978 the celebrated London goldsmiths David Courts and Bill Hackett were working on a small scale silver sculpture of a human skeleton. Using a real skull for reference they carved a perfect miniature replica which they then moulded. When the hollow wax skull was removed from its mould the inspiration for the ring was born. Further experimentation led to the creation of the original silver skull ring. At the same time an invitation arrived from Keith Richards to his birthday party in New York - so Bill and David decided that the new ring would make a fantastic present. From the moment he put it on his finger, the magic began and he has worn it ever since.

Actually MICK has helped promote L'Wren in her career. She started her fashion line in fall of 2007. Thats when the ABB tour was ending so I wonder how much she got paid for being MICK's stylist. She probably used that money to start up her own fashion line. Smart lady! AND FVCKING LUCKY!  MICK was smart enough to make her work for her money during the tour ~ and was it such hard work touring with the Stones? I bet it was the best gig of her life! Not to say she has no talent because she obviously does, but being MICK's stylist helped give her credability with the rich and famous jet setters and movie stars who want to be as successful as MICK JAGGER. Yeah, MICK is a big part of her success. IMO.

10/16/09 - The expertise of Azzuolo, who previously collaborated with Hermés and Kenzo, has resulted in this great fall winter 09 collection. The rich, exclusive line reflects the influence of YSL in the seventies and the styles of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

Antonio Azzuolo brings us a collection inspired by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. The style is the essence of the Rolling Stones, with interesting combinations of garments and unexpected color combinations, an essential element of the new line.

Innovative textiles mix with exquisite wools to create an interesting reinterpretation that was also influenced by Pierre Cardin and YSL in the seventies.

It's worth taking the time to admire the work that went into each look. We love their mise-en-scene and rich details. As you probably know, Azzuolo is a Canadian designer who was creative director at Ralph Lauren Purple and Black Label and previously collaborated with Hermés and Kenzo.

Georgia May Jagger, the daughter of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger, and Coco Rocha are announced as the new faces of beauty brand Rimmel London.

Miss Jagger has already appeared in advertisements for Hudson Jeans and recently appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine.

The pair will join Kate Moss, Lily Cole and Sophie Ellis-Bextor as icons for the British make-up brand, and will appear in advertising campaigns next year.

Miss Jagger, 17, who has followed her mother, Jerry Hall, and sister Elizabeth into modelling, has already appeared in advertisements for Hudson Jeans and recently appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine.

Miss Rocha, who has modelled for brands including Calvin Klein and The Gap, said: "I have discovered a love of make-up through my modelling career, and I am really pleased to be working with such a hip brand."

Georgia May Jagger: 'Growing up I never knew my parents were famous - Dad was a musician, Mum was a dork'

With a rock star father and supermodel mother, it was only natural for Georgia May Jagger to want to experiment with looking older.

Like many young girls she would experiment with make-up - much to the concern of her father Mick Jagger.

But now aged 17 she has admitted having the perfect riposte when he complained that she was too young to wear make-up.

Georgia May said she only had to mention to her father that he wore make up to silence his fatherly concerns.
She said: " We have a snap of my dad wearing blue eye shadow. which I would always make fun of.

'When I was about 12 and first started wearing lipstick, my dad would ask "Are you wearing make-up?"
'I would say back, 'You're wearing more make-up there than I am!'

Georgia May, who is the face of Hudson Jeans, has recently shot an advertising campaign as one of the faces of Rimmel cosmetics.

Like her 66 year old father she has full lips and the famous Jagger pout is being used to sell lipstick.
In an interview for U.S. magazine Interview Georgia May said growing up she was never aware that her parents were internationally famous.
She described her 53 year old Texan born mum as a "dork - a cooler one, but still a dork" and her father as a "musician."

'When I went on tour with my father, I knew he was a musician. But they were my parents.

Georgia May could follow in the footsteps of her supermodel mother Jerry Hall  according to Interview magazine - she says she thought of her mother as a dork when she was younger

'I still think of my mum as being kind of a dork -a cooler one, but still a dork.'
Asked her about her famous gap toothed smile, she said: 'I think my gap adds character.

'A while ago on the street, a guy yelled "You could stick a gold through your front teeth". Which meant I could put a £1 coin between them.

'But you can't, I've tried. Fifty pence coins and two pence coins, yes. But not a pound.'

Georgia May is called a "super model in the making" by Interview magazine which features fashion and showbusiness interviews.
She is certainly one of the hottest models of the moment with rumours circulating that she has been signed as the star of the Spring 2010 Versace campaign.

She would replace Gisele Bundchen who stars in the current ads alongside Paul Sculfor.
