There is currently a ludicrously ridiculous thread over on a rival message board (Tell Me) regarding Keith usage of cigarettes on stage and whether he is smoking genuine cigarettes or in fact, some kind of imitation device.

We all know that Keith used to fool us into thinking he was drink Jack Daniels in interviews, whilst it was iced tea, etc, but is this latest revelation a step too far?

So, a ridiculous topic calls for a ridiculous poll!  

It's true - my experience is they are not fair dinkum cigarettes - i was less than 12 feet from keith when he sparked up on stage at the enmore from a packet of malboro reds - but i know my ganga and that was no tobacco!!

Did Australia have a smoking-ban in place by ’03? I have often thought that cigarette has become a bit of a prop in recent years and maybe he sparked-up the fake one just so he could carry-out his act.

I would be incredibly surprised if he were not smoking genuine cigarettes during open-air shows – that’d be just daft. Unless, he is fooling us and he no longer smokes.

that's right NO SMOKING for anybody - but keith lit up and as i say it was a doctored marlbo red - it had a filter and all - ( i was that close) - but it was marijauana smoke for sure

i have read that keith doesn't smoke as much as public image suggests - i.e. professional shots would call for the prop - so it appears he smokes constantly

and speaking of doctored smokes i also recall from somewhere (flippo??charone?) - that in '75 '76 DCs (dirty cigarettes) were all the go - i.e. spiked with H. or C. according to taste

First night at the 02 in 2007, he lit up at the start of his little 'rap' before his solo set and the next day the papers were all highlighting the fact that he'd defied the smoking ban. I suppose its possible he just forgot. There had been a similar reaction at Glasgow (an outdoor show) 12 months earlier.

The second night (if I remember right), he lit up again to a huge roar from the crowd at his little act of defiance. He'd definitely been made aware of the ban by then, though. More press comments the next day.

Third and final night, he pulled out a ciggy and match, waited for the crowd to get worked up - and then flipped the unlit ciggy into his mouth and ate it.

The last one was obviously a fake. Dont think the other two were.

Yeah, right. They're bubblegum Marlboro Reds, and he's exhaling powdered sugar.

Next thing you know someone'll say it's actually Blondie playing all of Keef's riffs...  ;)

No, he doesn't fool us. I was in Rome opposite him about 15 meters. Or less.
And plus later, I could talk with him in the backstage for some minutes.
He smokes 'true' cigarettes.

To be honest, we've smoked together..

Oh well..

I don't think for a minute he smokes fake cigarettes, he's been smoking for years & like some of us is addicted to them, why in the hell would he smoke fake cigarettes???????? that's no prop, that's the real thing, & Ronnie smokes like a fiend too.
