What a great album, I was listining to it some weeks ago several times, btw, the first mention to "Jefferson Starship"

The first line-up of Jefferson Starship in the order it is written inside the GF cover was this one

Jefferson Starship:
  • Paul Kantner
  • Grace Slick
  • Jerry García
  • Bill Kreutzmann
  • Mickey Hart
  • Joey Covington
  • Jack Casady
  • David Crosby
  • Graham Nash
  • David Freiberg
  • Harvey Brooks
  • Peter Kaukonen
  • Phil Sawyer
Wow, the cream of the cream of the bay area back then

When Jerry would get busted, he would nod his head and say to the cop, "Oh right . . .  illegal."

ah the days that used to be my friend. many, many shows the last at shoreline june 95. still haunted by the last song.......

Fare you well, my honey
Fare you well, my only true one
All the birds that were singing
Are flown, except you alone

Gonna leave this brokedown palace
On my hands and my knees, I will roll, roll, roll
Make myself a bed by the waterside
In my time, in my time, I will roll, roll, roll

In a bed, in a bed
By the waterside I will lay my head
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
To rock my soul

River gonna take me, sing me sweet and sleepy
Sing me sweet and sleepy all the way back home
It's a far gone lullaby sung many years ago
Mama, Mama, many worlds I've come since I first left home

That must have been June 4.  I also got a Brokedown on my last, June 25 at RFK.

You could hear the end was nigh on that tour.

RFK 95 were my last shows, too.

I actually got the vibe that the end was near a year earlier at Giants Stadium.
Two awful shows, imo.

So bad in fact that I decided not to drop any money on the Fall MSG shows that were announced shortly thereafter.

Got back on the bus in Spring 95 when I realized that the long strange trip might not be lasting too much longer.
Sadly the Giants Stadium shows that summer confirmed my suspicions.

Bruce Hornsby sat in at RFK and Jerry seemed to rise to the occasion - especially the second night.

Remember him smiling from the wings during Dylan's set, then coming out to play on 'It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry' and 'Rainy Day Women #12 & #35'.

Bittersweet memories...

Yet another band I was fortunate enough to see at The Beacon in '76 - along with the Garcia Band at the Pirates Ball in September of the same year.

Loved "Blows Against The Empire" too.

Roll on, Jerry.

Yeah Jerry was a gem. Did you know that his middle finger was cut in half? I always wondered if it was from an accident that happened or if he was born thet way. Always amazed me that the man could work his fingers on the guitar so well with only half a middle finger, or if in some way that made it easier to play guitar....anyone know about this?

All I know, was it was rumored, that hells angels also did a finger cut like that for an intitation... probably rumor, but... that's how I heard JG had the finger cut, never heard anything else as to how, probably a childhood accident. I love urban myths.

Garcia lost 2/3 of the middle finger on his right hand in a childhood accident.
It was cut off with a hatchet by his older brother while on a family vacation.
