I've repeated this on every Queen related thread on this board but I'll say it again, lol: The seventies Queen, and especially the Queen of "Queen" and "Queen II" albums was a completely different band from the one having hits with e.g. "I want to break free". (Despite that, imo, they did great with every musical genre they tried). I believe that this early period was just so beautiful, complicated and downright brilliant, and definitely underestimated by critics and the audience alike.

Yeah, the Queen groupie in me just woke up again :keithpunky

Freddie Mercury was one of the greatest frontmen of all time. He was bloody brilliant.
The bands music, was not really my cup of tea, but facts are facts. Freddie was the dogs bollocks.

In the 70's David Bowie said of Elton John "He's the Liberace of rock" he didn't like him, but I don't think it's the same today, Freddy Mercury, you gotta admit is a great showman, & all those theatrical guys sure put on big shows, at least back in the 70's they did, Mick, Marc Bolan, Bowie, Alice Cooper, etc.

Well Zappa is in my top list... since the early 70 and I think will be forever in that list! Saw him live at the Palladium in NYC and I have the whole official discography which is HUGE in LP and CD

Queen... I like the 1973-1977 period a lot, live they were great, Freddy was a master of the stage with a lot of influence by Mick Jagger, I hate the 80s Queen a lot... then I like Innuendo, is a masterpiece
