Final nail in whatever slim hopes may have existed for a 2009 mini tour I believe:

U2's 'Horizon' gets release date

U2's latest promo photo.

No Line On The Horizon, U2's long-awaited new CD following up 2004's How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, will be released on Tuesday, March 3.

Recording sessions for the new disc began last year in Fez, Morocco, and continued in the band's Dublin studio, before moving to New York's Platinum Sound Recording Studios and Olympic Studios in London.

The album's producers are long-time U2 collaborators Brian Eno and Canadian Danny Lanois, with additional production by Steve Lillywhite.

A U2 tour is expected to follow later next year.

Apparently Fenway Park is penciled in for August. I hope it's a full stadium tour, if only so I can pick up a cheap ticket outside.

Fenway was also rumored on the last tour.

Aside from the tour closer in Honolulu, they stuck to arenas in NA.

Multiple nights in many cities, so if they tour in summer 09, stadiums are the way to maximize $...

Different demographic. And outside of an Ozzfest date, I don't think AC/DC will be doing stadiums here.

U2's new album will be a monster too.
