Title: Peter Frampton and The Rolling Stones Post by Voodoo Chile In Wonderland on Oct 17th, 2008 at 10:12am
I renamed the thread and uploaded the programme
Ok, here's the programme ready to download or play, dedicated to all who think he's a clown, he was one, he sold his soul to repulsive pop and the cost was high (well, he got millions of dollars in exchange) but he's a good musician This is it http://www.rocksoff.org/h8-peterframptonbyvoodooandjuliaandjimena.mp3 If you want to skip the conversations this is the song index
Let’s make another cyber party! This is to invite you to join me online on a webradio special today, Friday October 17th 2008 at 13:00 CT (11:00 PST, 14:00 EST USA / 19:00 UK etc) Websignal HERE http://ibero909.fm/index.php/envivo and then select Windows Media Player or Real Player Or chose from these options Window Media Player: http://ibero909.fm/index.php/envivowmp Real Player http://ibero909.fm/index.php/envivorealplayer Call us and shout the Rocks Off anthem on the cyberair babies… +52-(55)-5292-5909 Instant Messenger: [email protected] Don’t spank me… In this case the invitation is for Peter Frampton and wait, if you think I’m gonna put the pop commercial Frampton, no I’m gonna put the rocking Frampton since the days with The Preachers (produced and managed by Bill Wyman) till his last album “Fingerprints” with all steps in between including The Herd and Humble Pie. "Fingerprints" is in my humble opinion one of his best or his best album and include guests like Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman composing and playing. The Prodigal Son of rock, he made a wrong move in terms of music which resulted in a successful career in terms of money. Then when he went back to rock was too late as many of us quit listening his music because of the extremely pop oriented music he made in the middle of his career. Some of Stones content, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood, Bill Wyman, Stu, Mick Taylor and Brian Jones will be mentioned. And as you may know, Stu and Bill proposed Peter to replace Mick Taylor. I won’t put his version of JJF but Keith Richards thanked Peter during the Alexis Korner sessions because of the great royalties he received from his cover “Thanks for that house of mine in upstate New York, I got it for your fucking nice royalties!!” So forget any prejudice if you know this guy for songs like “Baby I love your way”, “I’m in You”, “Show me the way” etc or his ridiculous role of Billy Shears in the movie Sgt. Peppers LHCB ; you will be listening a nice selection of rock and blues songs from this musician.. to show that a prodigal son of rock can go back to his roots. |

fingerprints is a nice disc. love the pie live at the whiskey from 69 anf of course rockin the fillmore. after frampton left they both became more commercially successful than artistically imo. guitar gods nonetheless. it was certainly was interesting to see frampton do the the glass spider tour with bowie in 87.

I have a version of Frampton doing the Stones "Loving Cup." Anyone know what session/year it's from?

Title: Re: Peter Frampton and The Rolling Stones Post by Zack on Nov 14th, 2008 at 4:23am
Hey, I don't think Frampton's "sellout" was so repulsive. 'Comes Alive' was my absolute favorite album of 1977, and I listened to it until the grooves wore out, playing along on a hockey stick. Sure, I was 13 at the time but I still had taste! The talkbox was gimmicky of course but current at the time, and his cover of JJF was atrocious, but his riffing was awesome throughout. He played beautiful acoustic too.
Actually Frampton was the best part of the Glass Spider tour, perhaps Bowie's all-time nadir. The crowd roared when he did the Do You Feel Like We Do riff so dismal was the show. I wished he would have broken out I Wanna Go to the Sun. |

The second part is brilliant, especially those tracks with Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts, my Spanish is really poor but the songs are great

It comes from the album "Grits and Cornbread" by Nanette Workman where Peter Frampton plays the lead guitar it was recorded at the Olympic Studios in London in 1977. Nannette also covers Paint it Black BTW, Nannette is one of the back up singers in the original Rolling Stones version of Honky Tonk Woman, she is also in the chorus for the studio version of You Can't Always Get What you want and attended the Let It Bleed editing sessions in LA with Mick Jagger adding vocals to Country Honk with Merry Clayton. The musicians for Loving Cup are Peter Frampton, Andy Bown (ex bandmate in The Herd later with Status Quo), Mike Kelly (Spooky Tooth who also collaborated with Peter Frampton), and Stones sidemen Jim Price and Bobby Keyes Here’s the song in MP3 format http://www.rocksoff.org/h8-lovingcupbynanetteworkmanwithpeterframpton.mp3 |
